Family Guy Season 21 Trailer Parodies Silence of the Lambs

A new sneak-peek at Family Guy season 21 shows the series parodying The Silence of the Lambs. Created and voiced by Seth MacFarlane, the adult animated sitcom premiered on Fox back in 1999 and consists of over 380 episodes, making it one of the longest-running programs on television. As always, the show continues to follow the adventures of the Griffin family, presenting much of its humor through cutaways and scenarios that satirize relevant or popular topics. In addition to MacFarlane, the series stars Alex Borstein, Seth Green, Mila Kunis, Patrick Warburton, and Arif Zahir, and is known for featuring numerous guest cameos as well.

Not long after the network announced its latest set of episodes, Family Guy was renewed for season 21. Beginning in September, the most recent installment saw Brian and Quagmire form a short-lived alliance to help the latter impress a woman and her pet dog. It also revived one of Stewie’s most iconic lines, when it flipped the script and had Lois repeatedly call after him as he ignorantly sat by. Other season 20 episodes featured LASIK eye surgery, a noir version of Quahog, a jealous Lois pining over Quagmire, and several parodies including ones of Green Book and HBO’s Game of Thrones, Succession, and Big Little Lies.

Now, AniDom, Fox’s Animated Domination, is offering audiences a first look at the new season of Family Guy by sharing a montage of episode clips to its YouTube channel. In a few noticeable moments, the show appears to be spoofing the 1991 thriller The Silence of the Lambs with Stewie and Lois portraying Hannibal Lector and Clarice Starling respectively, and Chris and Meg recreating a famous Buffalo Bill scene. Other clips show a complicated Zoom call, a Stewie music video, and the Griffins tied up in their living room. Check out the video below:

Family Guy regularly parodies famous movies and television shows, with one episode solely focused on targeting directors Quentin Tarantino, Wes Anderson, and Michael Bay. The series has also recreated popular scenes from Deadpool, Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory, 12 Angry Men, and a collection of different Stephen King adaptations. Its most celebrated, and likely most well-known, to date though would have to be its Star Wars-inspired episodes, beginning with “Blue Harvest,” all of which aired at hour-long runtimes.

Longtime fans of Family Guy are accustomed to such episodes now and it will be interesting to see what MacFarlane and company do with The Silence of the Lambs. With stars like Alex Borstein wanting to stay on for as long as the show stays funny, it is certainly possible for this series to continue past its upcoming season. Those who enjoy its characters and humor can look forward to seeing what its new episodes offer when Family Guy returns to Fox.
