Horror-focused streaming service Shudder has announced a new entry in the V/H/S series, V/H/S/99.

The sequel is set to stream exclusively on Shudder October 20, in North America, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. This time around the anthology series will feature Maggie Levin (Into The Dark: My Valentine), Johannes Roberts (47 Meters Down, Resident Evil: Welcome To Raccoon City), Flying Lotus (Kuso), Tyler MacIntyre (Tragedy Girls) and Joseph & Vanessa Winter (Deadstream) as directors on the project.

“V/H/S/94 set a new bar for what is already a fantastic film franchise, featuring some of the best horror anthology segments in recent memory by an incredible lineup of filmmakers,” said Craig Engler, Shudder’s general manager. Engler also noted that this would be the “biggest and best” entry in the series.

Producer Josh Goldbloom touched on how the late ’90s saw the DVD surpassing VHS as the preferred medium, The Blair Witch Project proved to be incredibly popular, and Y2K created a strong sense of “apocalyptic dread.”

The V/H/S series started in 2012, with each film essentially composed of numerous found footage short films all from different directors, which has included Adam Wingard (You’re Next), Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett (Ready or Not), and Gregg Hale (The Blair Witch Project).

Plot details for V/H/S/99 haven’t been announced as of yet, though based on Goldbloom’s comments it’s sure to revolve around the overall feelings that many experienced with the turn of the millennium.
