19 Questions “House Of The Dragons” Needs To Answer After Episode 2
Spoilers ahead for “House Of The Dragon” Episode 2 — you’ve been warned!
Hello, hello! If you’re anything like me, you’ve become completely invested in House Of The Dragon — even though you were so sure that you weren’t going to get sucked into the Game Of Thrones hype again.
After watching the premiere last week, I was left with a lot of burning questions — and Episode 2 was no different. So, here are just some of the things I’ll be thinking about until the next episode.
1. First of all, since when do crabs feast on human flesh?
2. On that note, who exactly is the Crabfeeder and what’s his connection to the Targaryen storyline?
3. Who are the dragon riders that Rhaenyra refers to during the small council meeting?
4. Why is Rhaenys, aka the “Queen Who Never Was”, keeping such a close eye on Rhaenyra?
5. Doesn’t it make sense to choose Ser Criston Cole, who is the only one with combat experience? And if so, why is everyone else so against it?
6. How long does it take to light all of those candles in the Sept?
7. How does Alicent feel about the situation she’s been placed into with the king?
8. Especially since during the scenes in the Sept, I was definitely still getting more-than-friends vibes between Rhaenyra and Alicent.
9. As we see later in the episode though, Viserys announces his decision to marry Alicent. With that in mind, I wonder what Rhaenyra and Alicent’s relationship will transform into during the time skip — friendly or domineering?
HBO / Binge
Ooooh, I’m getting excited.
10. Is the king’s rotting body another sign of the Iron Throne rejecting him as his rule grows weaker?
First, it was the cuts that wouldn’t heal and now it looks like things are getting worse.
11. Is Laena Velaryon asking about Vhagar foreshadowing her becoming the dragon’s rider?
This conversation feels too important to cast off as some random dialogue between two characters. Plus, Laena’s father, Lord Corlys, is the master of ships AND she mentioned that the last known location of Vhagar is along the coast of the narrow sea (which would only be accessible with a ship). If that’s the case, I also wonder if we’ll get scenes of Laena meeting Vhagar for the first time.
12. How far away is Dragonstone from King’s Landing?
I ask because they made it seem like Dragonstone was just a jolly little stroll away from King’s Landing. Either that or they somehow teleported there instantly, which if memory serves me right, was a plot issue with Game Of Thrones.
I get that scenes involving the amount of travel it takes to get from one place to another would be cut in the interest of production costs and episode run-time, but I’m just wondering how they got to Dragonstone so quickly.
13. Like, did they take some dragons there or what?
14. Also did they really charge all the way to Dragonstone to meet with Daemon, who has a dragon that could kill them in a second, without any of their own backup?
Lucky Rhaenyra appeared, otherwise I’m sure Otto “I can handle it myself” Hightower would have been a huge pile of ashes.
15. Did anyone else’s mind flashback to Bridgerton and the whole “You are the bane of my existence and the object of all my desires” when Rhaenyra said “I’m right here, uncle..,the object of your ire” to Daemon?
I mean, it’s House Of The Dragon, so an incestuous relationship between these two wouldn’t be the wildest thing to happen.
16. What’s the deal with this portable oven contraption?
Okay, clearly it’ll keep the dragon egg safe during transporting, but that thing looks HOT — do dragon eggs need to be kept warm if they’re not trying to be hatched?
17. Also, how long do dragon eggs take to hatch?
18. It looks like Daemon and Lord Corlys are going to team up, but who’s going to be their first target? Will it be the Crabfeeder and then the king?
HBO / Binge
I bet Daemon is going to backstab Lord Corlys at some point too.
19. And lastly, just who exactly will the main villain be in House Of The Dragon?
Daemon hasn’t done anything to earn villain status yet, but that could change in future episodes. Unless there’s going to be someone else who turns everything upside down.
