Miles noted that it was important to them for the show to not feel like a remake or reboot, and that “the ambition of the show was to make it an eight-hour Tim Burton movie,” he told Vanity Fair.

“It’s something that lives within the Venn diagram of what happened before, but it’s its own thing,” he said. “It’s not trying to be the movies or the ’60s TV show. That was very important to us and very important to Tim.”

If you missed it, the showrunners, along with Jenna Ortega, Tim Burton and more opened up about Jenna getting into character and bringing her version of Wednesday to the show. See what they said!
