So…Is Shaquille O’Neal A ‘Flat Earther’ Or Not?? Here’s What He Had To Say!

NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal wants to make it known that he’s NOT a flat Earther, despite the many comments he’s made over the years about the controversial topic. The confusion about whether O’Neal really believes the Earth is flat has been circulating around for many years thanks to specific comments he’s made and his sense of humor. On his latest “The Big Podcast with Shaq” episode titled, “The Big Walkie Talkie,” O’Neal clears the air…mostly.

Round Or Flat? O’Neal Sets The Record Straight

“Stop the presses! For all the idiots that think I’m serious when I say the Earth is flat, that is not my problem,” he said to podcast co-hosts Nischelle Turner and Spice Adams. “I’ve been giving myself to the world since 1992. You should know when I’m upset. You should know when I’m trying to be serious. You should know when I’m business-minded and you should know when I’m playing, and if you don’t know those things that is not my problem.”

Revisiting Old Comments About Being A Flat Earther

In 2017, the NBA star discussed his flat Earth theories on “The Big Podcast with Shaq.” His argument started by discussing how he drives coast to coast often. “I do not go up and down at a 360-degree angle, and all that stuff about gravity, have you looked outside Atlanta lately and seen all the buildings? You mean to tell me that China is under us? China is under us? It’s not. The world is flat,” he said.

During a recent interview on The Kyle & Jackie O Show while visiting Australia, his 2017 comments entered the chat. When asked if he believes the comments he said many years ago about the Earth being flat, O’Neal said, “it’s a theory” and continued to explain why. “I flew 20 hours today, not once did I go this way. I flew straight,” he explained. He also said that his plane didn’t “go upside down” which is what he believes would happen if the Earth was round. Another playful argument he had was about the Earth spinning. “You know how they say the world is spinning? I’ve been living in a house on a lake for 30 years, not once did the lake rotate to the left or rotate to the right,” he said.

O’Neal’s Agent Told Him To “Stop” The Conspiracy

After that interview, O’Neal got a call from his agent about the flat Earth discussion. “My agent called me and said, ‘Man, you gotta stop that.’ And I said, ‘Stop what,'” O’Neal said. “And he said, ‘It’s a conspiracy.'” O’Neal went on to explain that the host is a comedian, and he was asking some dumb questions, and the only response to a dumb question is a dumb answer. “However, I flew 20 hours on the plane like I said, and my plane didn’t do that not one time, I’m just saying. That’s all I be saying,” he joked.

To finish the flat Earth discussion and maybe solve the curiosity about if O’Neal is just messing with us or not, Turner said, “Let’s go on record everyone – Shaquille O’Neal does not think the world is flat.”
