Fans are already preparing for the extremely unique opportunity many movie theaters will be providing that will make Labor Day weekend even more relaxing!

The Twitter hashtag for #NationalCinemaDay is already packed with tweets from excited moviegoers nearly a week before the event will take place.

One user tweeted, “Just bought tickets for me and my minion to see ‘The Minions’ on September 3rd!” and included a yellow heart emoji to celebrate.

Discussions about the holiday are already in full swing on Reddit!

Film fans have gathered in the ‘box office’ subreddit to chat about the holiday.

One moviegoer wrote, “Me and my husband are gonna go see ‘Jaws’ (the original) and ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ cause we haven’t seen them.”

A Reddit user by the name of WalterMargin108 shared “My local Alamo Drafthouse will be showing ‘Apocolypse Now: Final Cut’ and the first ‘Godfather’ on September 3rd. The local AMC also has ‘Jaws’ in I-MAX laser. I want to watch all three but that is like 8+ hours of movie-viewing it one day.”

If this Reddit user (or anyone else) wanted to opt for a movie marathon, National Cinema Day would be an ideal day to spend some long hours enjoying a number of features on the big screen!

According to the official National Cinema Day website, moviegoers will be able to see “Every movie, every showtime, in every format” for the low ticket price of only three dollars!

The website also offers an option for users to look up the film of their choice and search to see if their local theater is participating in the event.

There is a caveat, though: National Cinema Day’s website warns viewers that the three-dollar ticket pricing “Does not include tax or online or third party ticketing fees.”

Some Film Fans Have Some Qualms

Some users in the aforementioned ‘box office’ subreddit were skeptical about the reduced ticket prices.

Reddit user Terrell2 wrote, “$3 to see what? All the big movies have been out long enough (‘Nope’, ‘Maverick,’ ‘Thor’, ‘Jurrasic,’ ‘Dragonball’) that most people who wanted to see them have already seen them. The biggest movies of the Fall like ‘Black Panther 2,’ ‘Black Adam,’ ‘Avatar 2’, ‘Puss In Boots 2,’ etc aren’t going to be out this weekend. Even at $3 are people going to leave their house to see movies like that weird George Miller fantasy romance or ‘Gigi and Nate?’

Another Reddit user, Morda808, said, “Yep, it’s going to be a nightmare. I don’t go to the movies on Saturdays unless it’s a kids movie with the family, but if I did, I’d skip this Saturday. I’d hate for someone on the fence about returning to theatres to do this and have a horrible experience with people talking, using their phones, etc… Even more so than usual.”

However you choose to celebrate National Cinema Day, we’re sure cinephiles will be enjoying plenty of popcorn on September 3rd!
