Maren Morris is turning a snarky comment from Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson into an opportunity to give back!

Morris and several of her country music colleagues have made headlines lately relating to influencer Brittany Aldean’s recent comments in an Instagram post, wherein she made a statement in the post’s caption related to her thoughts on gender.

Aldean’s Instagram post from August 23rd featured the 33-year-old beauty influencer putting on make-up. In its caption, Aldean wrote, “I’d really like to thank my parents for not changing my gender when I went through my tomboy phase. I love this girly life.”

According to The Blast’s coverage of the situation, country singer Cassadee Pope took to her Twitter to call out Aldean’s transphobic comments.

Pope tweeted, “You’d think celebs with beauty brands would see the positives in including LGTBQ+ people in their messaging. But instead here we are, comparing someone’s ‘tomboy phase’ to someone wanting to transition. Real nice.”

How Did Morris Respond To Pope’s Tweet?

It’s so easy to, like, not be a scumbag human? Sell your clip-ins and zip it, Insurrection Barbie.

Morris did not hesitate to share her thoughts in Pope’s Twitter thread.

The “Meet Me In The Middle” singer had some strong words for Aldean’s commentary

She wrote, “It’s so easy to, like, not be a sc*mbag human? Sell your clip-ins and zip it, Insurrection Barbie.”

Morris and Pope’s comments and the ensuing social media conversation soon brought national attention to the situation; many famous figures praised Morris for her response and others also came to Aldean’s defense.

Conservative commentator Candace Owens responded to Morris’ tweet and the duo subsequently engaged in a terse conversation.

Owens responded, “It’s easier not to castrate your children. But I guess whatever sells bad records.”

Morris did not mince words with her response!

She wrote, “Oh my god, not you. My Grammy is positively sobbing right now. And why do y’all always go to “castration” and “pedophiles” to try and shut an argument down? It’s honestly concerning and worth looking into.”

Aldean, for her part, decided to create a line of clothing inspired by Morris’ “Insurrection Barbie” moniker for her. She and fellow influencer Kasi Rosa Wix teamed up to create articles of clothing featuring statements written in the legendary Barbie font, including a pull-over that reads “Don’t tread on our kids.” (per The Blast)

On Thursday, Aldean appeared on Fox News’s “Tucker Carlson Tonight” and continued to discuss her thoughts on the situation.

According to Entertainment Tonight, Aldean maintained she was “advocating for children,” and continued to passionately defend her stance.

Yesterday Morris decided to poke fun at a comment Carlson had made toward her in the interview, wherein he called her a “lunatic,” on Twitter!

She posted a graphic made to look like a Fox News segment featuring her photo and a byline reading “Lunatic country music person.”

After her tweet was met with much fanfare, Morris returned to Twitter to reveal she had created a t-shirt with the moniker on the front.

The black t-shirt features Morris’ name and “Lunatic country music person” written in white text, and also contains the phone number for the Peer Support and Crisis Hotline for Trans youth!

Morris’ most recent Twitter update about the shirt reveals over $100k has been raised so far!

The proceeds collected from the shirt’s sales will go to benefit both GLADD’s Transgender Media Program and Trans Lifeline, according to her official merch store!
