Actor Tyrese Gibson has been ordered to pay child support to his ex-wife Samantha Lee, with whom he shares a three-year-old daughter, Soraya.

Gibson and Lee were married for four years, tying the knot in a low-profile ceremony in February 2017 and welcoming their daughter in 2018. The couple announced their divorce in December 2020. Since then, they have been engaged in a protracted legal struggle to divide their assets and resolve other matters, including child support and spousal maintenance.

According to reports, the Georgia court where the lawsuit was filed issued a ruling on the matter, ordering Gibson to pay Lee child support as well as other costs, but disallowing the payment of spousal support.

Court Ordered Tyrese Gibson To Pay Child Support

According to Page Six, a court has issued a verdict that Gibson will now pay child support to his estranged wife, Lee. The judge who presided over the case ordered that the Hollywood actor will pay Lee a monthly amount of $10,690 to be used in taking care of their 3-year-old daughter, Soraya.

Initially, the court ordered that the specified child support amount be backdated to September 2020, which implied that Gibson already owed his ex-girlfriend up to $209k. However, the actor got the fee reduced to $169k after it was noted that he had been paying Lee’s car payment for two years since their split.

Per the ruling, the “Morbius” actor must also keep up a $1.9 million life insurance policy with Soraya as the beneficiary and Lee serving as the trustee. Any additional costs for Soraya’s education must be paid equally by the ex-spouses, and they must continue to provide health insurance to safeguard her wellness.

‘This Is Not A Punishment For You’

Gibson was also cautioned by the judge, who seemed to notice he was not happy about the ruling. The judge said, “This is not a punishment for you. Put that money in the child, where it belongs!” He also stated that the actor should be eager to raise his ex’s quality of living as it means his daughter would share its benefits.

Another key part considered during the divorce case was spousal support. Ultimately the judge ruled that neither side would provide spousal support. The verdict also instructed that Gibson would receive the Range Rover while Samantha was granted the Land Rover.

Per the ruling, Gibson and Lee are now officially single and free to marry anyone without having to bother with the previous legal binding when they first exchanged vows.

The Judge Advised The Ex-Couple

After delivering the ruling, the judge gave the ex-couple some suggestions on how to interact with one another for the sake of their child. He suggested the pair stop bugging each other in front of Soraya since he thought such unpleasant behavior would harm her mental health.

“I want you both to love your kid, and I want you both to tell your kid to love the other parent because that’s how we get successful human beings,” the judge said per Page Six.

“Nobody won here, and nobody lost. The kid lost, because she doesn’t have her parents together. Minimize the effects of that loss. Minimize it in every way, shape, and form you can. FaceTime with your kids. There’s no amount of money that substitutes that because you can’t buy time. Once it’s gone, it’s gone. Spend every minute you can, because you blink, and they’re 25.”

Tyrese Gibson Still Believes In Marriage

Despite his hard luck with his past marriages to Lee and ex-wife Norma, with whom he shares a teen daughter, Shayla, Gibson recently revealed that he has not given up on the institution of marriage and that he desires to settle down soon.

“I want to get married and settle down and really really nest and embrace the comforts of this family and married life,” he said, per Essence, amid his recent breakup from social media influencer Zelie Timothy. “I don’t want to be in your clubs or around your women. I want to stay home and be the hard-working family man that I am.”

Timothy and Gibson dated for a year but split in July 2022. At the time of the split, Gibson opined in several since-deleted posts that the reason for the breakup was Timothy’s lack of interest in committing fully to the relationship.
