Crunchyroll is bringing Mobile Suit Gundam Cucuruz Doan’s Island to select theaters across the UK, America, Canada, and Italy this September, and a new trailer for the film has arrived. Directed by Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, Mobile Suit Gundam Cucuruz Doan’s Island is an adaptation of the unaired 15th episode of the original Mobile Suit Gundam series. It also marks the first time it will be available in both English subbed and dubbed and will be available to fans outside of Asia.

Set in the futuristic calendar year Universal Century 0079, the plot focuses on the war between the Principality of Zeon and the Earth Federation, with the latter unveiling a new giant robot known as the RX-78-2 Gundam piloted by the teenage civilian mechanic Amuro Ray. Cucuruz Doan’s Island takes place in this timeline as classic Gundam characters return once again.

In this new movie, Amuro Ray and his team are stranded on a remote island after a secret mission goes wrong. Their objective was to clear off any inhabiting enemy forces, but they only find a group of children. Now, Amuro must find a way off this mysterious island but finds himself in the crosshairs of a strange man: Cucuruz Doan. It’s interesting to note that the episode of Mobile Suit this movie was based on was neither broadcast nor made available on DVD in North America, per series creator and director Yoshiyuki Tomino’s request.

The film was originally released in Japan back in June of this year, but with Crunchyroll movie night, will be headed to theaters across the world. The limited engagement includes a special two-day run in the UK on September 21 and 22–with tickets on sale starting on September 16. It heads to the United States on September 27 and 28, and finally to Canada on September 29 and October 1. Tickets for both North American shows are available now. The film will also have a special one-week engagement in cinemas in Australia beginning on September 29, with tickets on sale starting September 14.
