Will Leah McSweeney Return To ‘RHONY’ Next Season?
Leah McSweeney memorably screamed “1985 IS GONE!” at fellow ‘RHONY’ housewife Sonja Morgan during a fiery confrontation in season 12, but will SHE be gone from the series next season?
McSweeney, 39, has had a busy year. In the first five months of 2022, the Married To The Mob mastermind released a memoir and embarked on a promotional tour.
But there may be a big gap in McSweeney’s hypothetical calendar where filming for The “Real Housewives Of New York” where filming would be.
McSweeney, who joined the cast of Big Apple socialites in 2020, currently has no concrete plans to return to the show for next season.
‘RHONY’ has been a fixture on Bravo fans’ radar lately.
The Blast reported the series will be getting a “major facelift” with a new cast, and an all new series which will feature several A-list NYC housewives from seasons past.
McSweeney isn’t sure if there will be space left for her to hold an apple next season in the wake of the series’ big news.
What Does McSweeney Think?
Could McSweeney’s unknown fate on ‘RHONY’ just an example of ‘chaos theory?’
During her appearance on the “We Should Talk” podcast (via People), she was honest when discussing her next move on the series.
“I think I’m not coming back,” she said. “It’s just the better way to think about it.”
Preparing for the worst while hoping for the best seems to be McSweeney’s chosen strategy until she finds out anything more.
“I mean, look,” she continued, “I have to see if they offer me to go back, I have to see who’s on it and which show it is, and whatever…, you know I can’t think the what if,” she concluded.
Could A New Beginning Be A Blessing In Disguise?
McSweeney may have given ‘RHONY’ a millennial presence amongst the series’ older cast members, but her experience on the show may have inspired similar feelings akin to her thoughts on tiki torches.
Trying to process the amount of scrutiny she received as a cast member was difficult for her.
McSweeney candidly spoke to Cat Marnell for Interview Magazine after “Chaos Theory’s” release about how fan criticism made her feel, especially during the heavy grieving period she endured after her beloved grandmother’s death.
“Last season was so rough,” she told Marnell. “it was one of the worst experiences of my life. I was grieving on the show, I lost my grandmother in real time,” she said.
Having to continue to work during the aftermath of her grandmother’s death was a frequent target for fan criticism.
“I had to deal with people being like, ‘Why were you there? You should’ve gone to say bye to your grandma!”
McSweeney was also frank in admitting she seemingly did not have a lot of support from those in the ‘RHONY’ camp.
“Like, yo I’m at work,” she continued, “I’m not there to hang out with Ramona for fun, I’m getting paid, I can’t leave, I signed a contract. No one said, ‘Leah go home, stop working.”
Despite her difficult experience while filming, the prospect of not returning to the show is a bummer for McSweeney.
Continuing on her episode of “We Should Talk,” McSweeney was frank about her feelings.
“I would be like, bummed. Just because that- season was just not… fun. You know what I mean? Maybe this show’s not supposed to be fun though. I just want to have fun on my last season.”
Despite the sad prospect of not returning to ‘RHONY’ McSweeney has had her share of positive moments this year.
Her previously fraught relationship with her mother is now tighter than ever before. She and Bunny McSweeney appeared together on the “Tamron Hall Show” last month while promoting “Chaos Theory.”
She recently celebrated two years of sobriety as well!
