13 Times Celebs Were Awkward, Controversial, Or Both This Week

If you’re like me, you consume a lot of celeb news that involves celebs being awkward, controversial, or both.

Fox

Well, welcome to a new BuzzFeed series, where I brief you on all the times celebs did just that each week. Let’s get into it:

1. Kris Jenner admitted that Kylie was her favorite daughter, while hooked up to a lie detector test:

CBS

Kris appeared on The Late Late Show with James Corden alongside Kylie, who asked,  “Am I your favorite child?” Kris said yes, which was determined by the polygraph examiner to be the truth. Full story here.

2. Ray J released two lengthy videos, where he alleged Kris Jenner was the mastermind behind the release of his and Kim Kardashian’s sex tape:

He also released alleged DMs between him and Kim, where he asks her and her family to stop pushing this narrative where he is villainized. Full story here.

3. Jimmy Kimmel faced backlash after he laid flat on the ground during Quinta Brunson’s Emmy acceptance speech:

Quinta’s category was presented by Will Arnett and Jimmy Kimmel, who did this bit where Jimmy laid flat on the ground because he had too many “skinny margaritas” after losing his category. You’d think that he’d end the whole lying-flat-on-the-ground bit and get up once Quinta had won, but nope, he kept lying there throughout her speech. People called him out for taking away from her moment. Full story here.

4. Kenan Thompson told this controversial joke about Leonardo DiCaprio and Zendaya at the Emmys Monday night:

NBC

There were definitely some “Oooohs” after that joke. Zendaya covered her face when Kenan said it. Full story here.

5. Jennifer Lawrence called out Erika Jayne in an interview with Variety:

8. And another brow-raising lewk — Dixie D’Amelio shaved her head this week!

“I’ve been sad recently. But I don’t want to say anything, because I don’t want anyone to think I’m having a mental breakdown. I’ve wanted to do this since sixth grade. If someone doesn’t like it, who cares? It grows back,” Dixie said in her YouTube video documenting the experience. Full story here.

9. In an Instagram post, Florence Pugh addressed the cast of Don’t Worry Darling, but only mentioned costar Chris Pine by name:

By now, all know the heavy amount of drama that’s surrounding the film (if not, click here), so people saw this as a purposeful exclusion of the others. Also, Chris doesn’t even have an Instagram. Full story here.

10. Harry Style has again faced allegations of queerbaiting after kissing Nick Kroll during the DWD premiere:

“Since they’ve been gone, I’ve honestly felt like a huge part of me has died,” Britney said, following her sons speaking out in an interview about choosing not to see their mom. “Like literally, I have no purpose anymore. They were my joy, they were my everything. I looked forward to seeing them. That was what I lived for.” Full story here.

13. And lastly, Noah Beck faced backlash online after seemingly defending disgraced, demonetized content creator Andrew Tate:

arifa @gracieshosie mind you noah beck is telling everyone to hear andrew tate out while this man got banned from not one, but TWO platforms because of how fucking disgusting he is

Noah Beck said Andrew Tate — who has referenced women as property of men — has some “valid points.” Noah’s interview where he says this has been deleted.
