Eminem Reveals Why He Ended Decades-Long Beef With Snoop Dogg

Rapper Eminem, born Marshall Bruce Mathers III, recently revealed that he and Snoop Dogg squashed their long feud after Dr. Dre’s health scare last year. The duo started being on bad terms as far back as 2000 after Eminem released his song, “B-tch Please II.”

Eminem said the beef between them was mainly a result of miscommunication. While trying to convey a message concerning a music collaboration, Snoop apparently heard a misconstrued version and thought it meant the “Slim Shady” rapper did not “f–k” with him.

Eminem And Snoop Dogg’s Feud Started In 2000

Eminem joined Paul Rosenberg, his long-time manager on SiriusXM’s “Paul Pod: Curtain Call 2,” and shed light on what led to his previous issue with Snoop Dogg. The artist revealed that they were currently on good terms after Dr. Dre’s hospitalization early last year.

The decades-long beef started as far back as 2000 after Snoop joined Eminem’s song “Bitch Please II.” The song was released that year and also had Dr. Dre on it. The rapper recalled, “I think there was a miscommunication at the time in regards to him being on my album ‘The Mathers LP,’ ‘B-tch Please II.”

“I think he wanted to do something with me and maybe gave you the idea or something, and you just said something to the effect of, ‘Let’s hear what the song is first. Let’s hear what the type of song is,'” Eminem told Rosenberg.

The Famous Rappers Settled Their Feud

The rapper revealed that the message got warped at some point, and Snoop received a different message from what was initially sent out. “And I think he said the way that he took it was kind of like that I don’t f–k with him. That I didn’t f–k with him,” Eminem revealed.

His manager, Rosenberg, concurred, revealing that he didn’t remember speaking to Snoop; however, he may have talked to another person on the 50-year-old’s team. “And whatever I said was relayed back to him in a way that he didn’t like, and he thought that meant that you didn’t f–k with him,” the host said. “Which obviously wasn’t the case.”

The two rappers ended up talking it out last year after Dre was hospitalized and getting back on good terms with each other. Eminem recalled, “We were like, bro, this is stupid. This is stupid as hell to be feuding right now. So I don’t remember if I called him, or he called me, I can’t remember, but we talked it out.” The “Lose Yourself” artist also revealed that “Doggystyle,” Snoop’s 1993 album changed his life.

Dr. Dre Was Hospitalized

Dr. Dre had a health scare in January last year and was rushed to the Los Angeles Cedars-Sinai Hospital. The producer reportedly suffered a brain aneurysm but received treatment during his stay at the hospital and assured his fans that he was doing much better shortly after.

Dre’s Instagram post then read, “Thanks to my family, friends, and fans for their interest and well wishes. I’m doing great and getting excellent care from my medical team. I will be out of the hospital and back home soon. Shout out to all the great medical professionals at Cedars. One Love!!”

The 57-year-old talked about the incident during his interview with The Los Angeles Times last year, revealing that he had always taken care of his health, so the scare surprised him. He said, “It’s a really weird thing. I’ve never had high blood pressure. And I’ve always been a person that has always taken care of my health… I never saw that coming. But I’m taking care of myself.”

Snoop Dogg Dissed Eminem

In 2020 when the rappers were still on unfriendly terms, Snoop notably dissed Eminem during an interview. The “Doggystyle” rapper reportedly said that he did not think Eminem was one of the top ten rappers in the world. He also said, “When you are talking about this hip-hop s— that I can’t live without, I can live without that.”

Eminem responded to Snoop in his song “Zeus” in 2020 and again in an interview with Shade 45 in 2021. In the lyrics of the song, the rapper expressed his disbelief at criticism coming from his “camp.”

During the 2021 interview, Eminem said, “Everything he said was fine, up to a point. Him saying Dre made the best version of me, absolutely, why would I have a problem with that?…. It was the last statement where he said, ‘Far as music I can live without, I can live without that s—.’ Now you’re being disrespectful.”

Snoop apologized to the rapper in an October 2021 interview with “The Breakfast Club.” During the interview, he revealed that he loved Eminem and had already apologized to the artist for his previous comments.

The duo have notably collaborated on a track this year, “From the D 2 the LBC,” and were also part of the team that performed in the February Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show along with Kendrick Lamar, 50 Cent, Mary J. Blige, and Dre.
