A woman frantically called the authorities in Melbourne, Florida this week about a domestic disturbance. The woman shared that her boyfriend began attacking her after a night of drinking. Initially, when she saw that her boyfriend, identified as Andrew Williams Jr, began drinking she asked him to leave.

The 33-year-old stayed against the victim’s wishes. He then proceeded to physically attack her. While the woman was “entangled” with Williams, her twin daughters became extremely concerned and fought to save their mom. “The little heroes grabbed toys, sticks, and a hair dryer and began to fend off Williams to protect their mother.”

The six-year-old girls used whatever was on hand to ward off their mom’s attacker and eventually, Williams fled the scene. “With the help of the girls, [their mother] was able to retreat to a bathroom for safety.”

Williams fled the scene but he was found shortly after nearby and was booked at the Melbourne Police Department. He was later transferred to Brevard County Sheriff’s Office. Williams was charged with simple assault.

He was also charged with possession of marijuana. Because both of these charges are considered misdemeanors his bond is $5,500.

The girls whose identities are withheld because they are minors are being hailed as “little heroes” by their mother and the police department. No one knows how bad the situation could have gotten if they didn’t feel the urgency to protect their mom.

Because the girls used whatever they could grab to help their mom, she was able to get away and run to the washroom for safety. Thankfully, Williams did not turn his rage onto the young girls.

A local neighbor called the girls’ actions “a good thing”. She believes there is no doubt that their mother wouldn’t be alive today “They protected their mom. It’s a good thing they did that because their mom is still here today,” she told ClickOrlando news.

Williams’ next court date is October 7.
