Mariah Carey Recreates Iconic Video Scene On TikTok With Special Guests

Mariah Carey is bringing 1997 back and taking us along for the nostalgic ride. She recently posted a video on TikTok where she recreates an iconic scene from her video “Honey” that was released 25 years ago. But this scene incorporates some special guests.

Carey Recreated The Scene With Special Guest Stars

“Honey” was the lead single off Carey’s album “Butterfly” that was released September 16, 1997. What better way to celebrate the song that’s still popular today than with a fun video recreation? The Grammy Award winning singer collaborated with “Stranger Things” star Millie Bobby Brown, her boyfriend Jake Bongiovi (singer Jon Bon Jovi’s son), Carey’s boyfriend Bryan Tanaka, and her 11-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe.

In the clip, Carey, 53, plays the role she did in the original video, as someone trying to escape her kidnappers. Brown, 18, played a kidnapper who questions the singer, with Carey responding in Spanish and pretending not to speak or understand English. Tanaka, Bongiovi, and the twins made cameos in the video as gangsters trying to scare their victim into answering their questions.

Happy Butterfly Anniversary!

Carey announced in an Instagram post last week that she’s “releasing new remixes, live performances, acapellas, and a brand new version of “The Roof” with the one and only @brandy” to celebrate the 25th anniversary of “Butterfly”

“Happy BUTTERFLY anniversary! ?? I will never forget the day I released this album to the world. I had never felt more exposed and vulnerable yet free and euphoric at the same time,” she started her caption. “It was a true EMANCIPATION (no pun intended!) of my spirit, soul and innermost feelings which I poured into every lyric and every note on every song. 25 years (?) later and it’s still one of the proudest moments of my life and career. I hope you enjoy reliving this journey with me.?”

Carey Debuted Her MasterClass Course Earlier This Year

Earlier this year, the subscription-based learning service MasterClass debuted Carey’s new course on “how to use the voice as an instrument.” The course features lessons on singing, songwriting and production, as well as a new take on one of her songs featuring R&B singer Brandy.Carey talked to PEOPLE about the experience. “It’s been such an honor to not only engage with fans in such a unique way, but to be able to invite the world to experience this special part of me has been my private haven,” she said. “When I started in this industry, being a creative songwriter, vocalist and producer in these spaces that were so male-dominated was incredibly difficult. I want to use this opportunity to share my story and teach my audience how to use their voice as a tool for expression.”

Carey’s approach to MasterClass also has her coaching singer Brandy, 43, through a collaborative, re-recorded version of “The Roof (Back in Time).” “Brandy and I both loved the original background vocals arrangement of ‘The Roof’ and decided we wanted to update it,” she said. “I really believe it’s surpassed the original and I can’t wait for you all to hear it.”
