In her latest Instagram post, captioned, “hope this helps ✨,” the aspiring screenwriter shared a childhood photo of herself in a red-and-white collared top, large thin-framed glasses, and a hat that covers her ginger hair.

“I’ve seen this exercise before and it’s resurfaced and become popular lately in a recent interview with Kendall Jenner,” she explained in a few text cards covering the next few slides of her Instagram carousel. “The exercise including taping a picture of yourself as a young, vulnerable, carefree little you, in your bathroom mirror.”

“Every single day you will look in the mirror and be reminded to be kind to yourself, because by being judgmental and self-loathing, you are just hurting the little person inside of you.”

“I had thought about doing this recently and I definitely should have a long time ago,” Ireland wrote. “While on a two day road-trip, I gave all of this some thought. I have been through a lot in my life thus far.”

“I am privileged and so grateful beyond because, compared to so many, I have it all. Although I have many more lessons to learn, I’ve learned an overwhelming amount for a 26 year old. I’ve caused a lot of pain in my life as well as received it,” she added. “I’ve had some pretty uncomfortable realizations as to who I am and what I want.”

“Most of my life plans have failed or gone in new frightened directions. Boy, have I learned things the hard way many ‘o times,” she admitted. “In all of this learning and growing thus far, I have also finally reached a place where I see that this little girl deserves so much better.”

“Sometimes, it’s important to reach these stooping points where you are forced to shed people out of your life like a snake sheds its skin. You know that saying… Some people are put into your life to teach you lessons and others are put in your life to be there forever… Or something like that lol. Well, it is pretty d— true,” she wrote.

“I’ve recently reached that place. I’ve been there before. A few times even. Sometimes, I was the friend who needed to be shed from someone’s life. I needed to learn that lesson,” she admitted. “Sometimes I’ve let go of the wrong people and tremendously regretted it. Most of the time, I hold on to all the wrong people that are emotional vampires that bring absolutely no value to my life and my happiness in any manner.”

“This ties back into the exercise,” she explained. “I look at my little face in this photo and ask… Doesn’t she deserve supportive, consistent, healthy, reciprocated friends? Doesn’t she deserve to be loved? To be surrounded by people who believe in her and believe in what she’s capable of?”

“Would you look her in her face and tell her she couldn’t do something or even attempt to achieve her wildest dreams?” she continued. “I’ve reached a place where I am really proud of the person she is today. She has a lot of growing and healing, but she’s coming a long way.”

“Too many people have let her down and taken advantage in her most vulnerable years and I have to protect her now that I have a clearer understanding of how,” she added.

“If your friendships, relationships, family members, bosses, coworkers, your WHOEVER is making you feel less than and worthless, show little you some respect, say bye bye, wish them well, and never look back,” she concluded.

Her mom, Kim Basinger, had nothing but support for her daughter, writing all caps in the comments. “I BELIEVE IN YOU NOW AS I HAVE ALWAYS LET YOU KNOW HOW MUCH I BELIEVED IN YOU …….WAY BACK THEN ………NOT AN OUNCE OF DIFFERENCE…….” she wrote. “JUST SIMPLY AM SURE YOU CAN DO ANYTHING YOU PUT YOUR MIND TO AND WANT!!!!!!❤️?”

She later added, “You will ALWAYS and FOREVER….. be MY
BABYDOLL…… I LOVE YOU SO !!!!!!) ?????✨?❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️.”
