“Lots of Grey’s Anatomy moments could fit the bill, but the one that comes to mind is the whole Denny storyline in season two. Izzie falls in love with a patient who needs a heart transplant, so she cuts his LVAD wire so he gets worse and it brings him to the top of the donor list. THEN Burke gets shot on his way into the hospital and he can’t help Denny, so Izzie panics and tries to keep Denny alive. He ends up getting a heart transplant, proposes, she says yes, and then he dies anyway! THAT was unhinged.”
