Jessie J recently opened up about her heartbreaking experience with losing her pregnancy and dealing with the loss alone.

Jessie J recently opened up about her heartbreaking experience with losing her pregnancy and dealing with the loss alone.

The English singer and songwriter was previously told by her doctors that she may be unable to conceive and was excited when she proved the news to be wrong.

The “Who You Are” Artist talked about how she went from having two scary scans to losing her conception unexpectedly in one long day.

Jessie J Gets Candid About Her Miscarriage

On a recent episode of Steven Bartlett’s “The Diary Of A CEO” podcast, Jessie J recounted the harrowing experience of losing her pregnancy.

That fateful morning, Jessie woke up in her Los Angeles home and began feeling like something was not right. She spoke about going for an ultrasound, saying,

“That dreadful silence when you first have a scan, and I was like, just tell me the truth what’s going on, and she said, ‘your baby’s heartbeat is very low, and there’s this ring,’ and I said, ‘well what does that mean?'”

The “Alive” singer’s doctor said her baby’s heartbeat was feeble but present. Those symptoms meant her baby might have some kind of deformity and disability.

Yet Jessie could not shake the feeling that something was amiss in her womb. So she searched for another medical professional to get another checkup. She tearfully recalled,

“He did another scan, and he said, ‘I’m really sorry there’s no heartbeat. That [scan] was within three or four hours of the first one.'”

The “Nobody’s Perfect” singer said she was told she would be unable to conceive, so the prospect of being a mother and having a child brought immense excitement to her life.

“I felt like I’d been given everything I’d ever wanted, and then someone had gone, but you can’t have it,” the Ilford native said.

The ‘Flashlight’ Singer Lost Her Baby Last November

Jessie first shared the news of having a miscarriage in a heartbreaking and raw social media post in November 2021.

The Blast disclosed that the star uploaded a now-deleted Instagram post featuring an image of her happily holding up a positive pregnancy test.

Jessie attached a quote to the post that read, “Sometimes love won’t be enough to make it work, and that’s ok. It doesn’t mean you have failed.”

In the caption, the “Domino” singer wrote about joking with her friend that she would be unable to keep her pregnancy a secret during her Los Angeles performance scheduled for later. She continued,

By yesterday afternoon, I was dreading the thought of getting through the gig without breaking down… After going for my 3rd scan and being told there was no longer a heartbeat [heartbreak emoji].

The 34-year-old declared she would use music to push through her pain, writing, “What I do know is that I want to sing tonight. Not because I’m avoiding the grief or the process, but because I know singing tonight will help me.”

The “Ice Age: Collision Course” actress praised music for being a thing that brings her joy and provides her self-love therapy.

Jessie continued, noting that she would sing her way through her devastating loss rather than talk about losing her baby to her fans on stage.

She also admitted that losing her baby brought her overwhelming sadness, and she was still in shock about the experience.

The “Masterpiece” songstress sought comfort in other women worldwide who had gone through similar issues, admitting, “It’s the loneliest feeling in the world.”

Jessie J’s comments section was soon filled with a barrage of love and support from fans and colleagues, who showered her with prayers and words of encouragement.

As the news of the “Do It Like A Dude” artist’s miscarriage begins to gather momentum, people wondered who was responsible for the pregnancy.

Jessie J clarified that the choice to go on the journey towards possible motherhood was hers, so she refrained from mentioning her partner.

She explained, “I decided to have a baby on my own. Because it’s all I’ve ever wanted, and life is short. To get pregnant was a miracle in itself and an experience I will never forget, and I know I will have again.”
