A sheriff in northwest Parker County, Texas responded to reports of gunfire heard nearby. What they found was a 12-year-old girl with a gunshot wound to the head lying in the middle of the street.

Inside the home nearby, authorities found an older male later identified as her father. He had been shot in the stomach. Both were airlifted to local hospitals. After an initial investigation, the police believe that the young girl shot her father in an attempt to run away from the home.
