Ending in controversy and heartbreak, the “After the Finale Rose” episode left viewers in shock. Rachel Recchia and Tino Franco got engaged, but it did not last as the couple soon faced real-life troubles. Ultimately, we come to find out that Tino cheated on Rachel, leaving Rachel confused and heartbroken.

“I messed up and kissed another girl, but the second I did, I knew I belonged with you,” Tino said during the “Bachelorette” finale. “This was the tiniest thing ever. … I tried to just get past it. … The stuff you said hurt so much. You said, ‘I don’t know how this is going to work … I can’t do happy couples this weekend like we planned.’”

Although Tino is now looked at as a bad guy, his dad is still sticking by his side. “Nobody’s perfect. We make mistakes,” Joe posted to Facebook on Thursday, September 22, days after the “Bachelorette” finale aired. “We say wrong things. We do wrong things. We fall. We get up. We learn. We grow. We move on.”

Prior to the finale, Rachel met up with Tino at a secret location trying to get the answers she felt she deserved, however, things ultimately ended in confusion and heartbreak when Rachel gave the ring back.

Tino did come out on stage to talk with Rachel during the live finale, to which Rachel was still not happy because she felt he was not owning up to his mistakes. “Rachel, I am so sorry,” he began as soon as he sat down on the couch.

“My actions are on me and I own them completely. From the bottom of my heart I’m sorry for what I did. I’m sorry it took me so long to tell you, and I’m sorry that that meet-up came off like I was trying to put any responsibility of what I did on you,” he continued.

However, when he started to accuse Rachel of not wanting to wear the ring, the 26-year-old flight attendant interrupted him. “Do you want to get into that? We were going through a really hard time and it’s deeply personal to both of us. And I think we both don’t want to air out why those things were happening, but we can. Do you want to talk about it?”

More back and forth happens, but ultimately the two ended on a rough note and did not work anything out.

Unfortunately, the season did not exactly end the way Rachel wanted as she and Tino are not together at this time, but she knows what she deserves. “When I did sit down with him, I didn’t see much of him owning up to his actions or feeling sorry,” Rachel told PEOPLE.

“I was still hitting lie after lie. And I just don’t know if I can continue a relationship when I don’t feel like there’s trust. I know that isn’t what I deserve,” Rachel said.
