‘Jeopardy!’ In Review: September 19 – 23, Everything You Missed!

Welcome to “Jeopardy!” In Review! This week, we will be revisiting the episodes from September 19 through September 23 as season 39 continues.

“Jeopardy!” is being hosted by Ken Jennings until the end of the calendar year, at which point “The Big Bang Theory” alum Mayim Bialik will take over hosting duties until further notice.

So, without further ado, let’s get started!

Monday, September 19 – Emmett Returns

On Monday, Emmett, a freelance writer, returned to defend his one-day total of $25,800 dollars against Jason, an event producer, and Suzanne, an oncology advertising consultant.

The first round featured the categories: HISTORIC HAPPENINGS // A HUNGER FOR READING // FLAGS // HODGEPODGE // WORDS BEFORE WORDS // TL;DW (too long, didn’t watch)

After the first round, Emmett had $7,200, Suzanne had -$600, and Jason had $4,400.

The Double Jeopardy! round featured the categories: GODDESSES // TAKE THE BROADWAY HOME // 4-SYLLABLE WORDS // JACK // LONDON // THE CALL OF THE WILD

Going into the Final Jeopardy! round, it was a pretty close game. Suzanne had $8,600, Jason had $8,400, and Emmett had $8,000.

The Final Jeopardy! category was “HISTORIC DOCUMENTS.” The clue read: “The governor of Massachusetts wrote, it ‘is a poor document, but a mighty act…wrong in its delay till January, but grand & sublime after all.'”

Only Emmett provided a correct answer of “What is the Emancipation Proclamation?” He bet everything and doubled up his score to win $16,000 dollars and create a new two-day total of $41,800 dollars.

Tuesday, September 20 –  Emmett Returns

On Tuesday, Emmett, a freelance writer, returned to defend his two-day total of $41,800 dollars against Juliana, a pediatrician, and Kelly, a classics professor.

The first round featured the categories: WORLD WAR II // SCIENCE & NATURE // HETERONYMS // THERE’S THE RUB // LETTUCE // ENTERTAIN “YOU”

At the end of the first round, Emmett had $4,600, Kelly had $2,000, and Juliana had $1,000.

The Double Jeopardy! round featured the categories: CAPITAL CITY ETYMOLOGIES // I’LL HAVE SECONDS // LESSER-KNOWN NAMES // GENRES OF POETRY // CURRENT SLANG // BEFORE & AFTER PEOPLE

Going into the Final Jeopardy! round, Kelly had $19,800, Emmett had $15,400, and Juliana had $3,400.

The Final Jeopardy! category was “AMERICAN GOVERNMENT.” The clue read: “Delivered on January 8, 1790, the first of these was also the shortest, at 1,089 words.”

Only Emmett was able to come up with a correct answer of “What is the State of the Union Address?” He bet everything for the second game in a row and won $30,8000 for a three-day total of $72,600 dollars.

Wednesday, September 21 – Emmett Returns

On Wednesday, Emmett, a freelance writer, returned to defend his three-day total of $72,600 dollars against, Martha, a retired CPA, and Christopher, a sports journalist.

The first round featured the categories: LAKES & RIVERS // IF IT QUACKS LIKE A DOC // SHOES! // CROSSWORD CLUES “J” // GREAT AMERICAN PAIRS // BUDWEISER & SPORTS

At the end of the first round, Emmett had $2,400, Christopher had $6,800, and Martha had $5,600.

The Double Jeopardy! round featured the categories: EMPERORS // 2 BOOKS IN 1 // PEOPLE & PLACES // BELIEF SYSTEMS // MODERN WESTERNS // 4 CONSONANTS IN A ROW

Going into the Final Jeopardy! round, Emmett had $22,000, Martha had $15,400, and Christopher had $10,800 dollars.

The Final Jeopardy! category was “FAMOUS NAMES.” The clue read: “Perhaps the most famous picture of him was taken in New Jersey in 1951 as he was annoyed by paparazzi on his 72nd birthday.”

Only Martha was able to come up with a correct answer of “Who was Einstein?” Martha doubled her score to create a new one-day total of $30,800 dollars.

Thursday, September 22 – Martha Returns

On Thursday, Martha, a retired CPA, returned to defend her one-day total of $30,800 dollars against Michael, a data analyst, and Lynda, a communications specialist.

The first round featured the categories: BETTER MOMENTS IN HISTORY // CHILDREN’S BOOKS // FARMING // MUST BE NICE // MOVIE TITLE REFERENCES // CHANGE ONE LETTER WORD PAIRS

After the first round, Martha had $7,200, Lynda had $2,000, and Michael had $5,000.

The Double Jeopardy! round featured the categories: GEOGRAPHY VIA KOKOMO // IN MY AUTOBIOGRPAHY // HUMANS IN SPACE // OLD FASHIONED // BEYONCE SONGS // SOUNDS JUST LIKE AN ANIMAL

Going into the Final Jeopardy! round, Michael had $18,600, Martha had $15,600, and Lynda had $3,200.

The Final Jeopardy! category was “POP CULTURE.” The clue read: “In 2011 Leland, Mississippi, where Jim Henson grew up, honored Henson & his Muppets by renaming a bridge this, also a song title.”

Everyone was able to come up with a correct answer of “What is Rainbow Connection?” Michael added $12,601 dollars to create a new one-day total of $31,201 dollars.

On Friday, Michael, a data analyst, returned to defend his one-day total of $31,201 dollars against Navid, an attorney, and Jenny, a curatorial assistant.

The first round featured the categories: GOING HOME // TAKE ME TO THE PILOT // NEW HARLEQUIN ROMANCES IN 2022 // CUTTING BACK ON THE BRAND // SO GALLANTLY STREAMING // TINY 3-LETTER WORDS

At the end of the first round, Michael had $3,600, Jenny had $4,600, and Navid had $4,200.

The Double Jeopardy! round featured the categories: AMERICAN HISTORY // BIBLE STUDY // IT’S ONLY “A” COUNTRY // INFRASTRUCTURE // SONG SNIPPETS // YIDDISHISMS

Going into the Final Jeopardy! round, Michael had $11,400, Navid had $8,600, and Jenny had $4,600.

The Final Jeopardy! category was “LITERARY CHARACTERS.” The clue read: “In a later part of the epic named for him, this character becomes king after his cousin Heardred dies in battle.”

Both Michael and Navid were able to come up with a correct answer of “Who is Beowulf?” Michael added $5,801 dollars to win $17,201 dollars to create a new two-day total of $48,402 dollars.
