During the filming of Jurassic World: Dominion, Bryce Dallas Howard was asked to drop a few pounds. Director, Colin Trevorrow said absolutely not!

Bryce Dallas Howard Is Used To Hollywood Policing Her Body

The foxy redhead wasn’t surprised that a conversation about her weight was being thrown around. She had felt pressured in the past by several higher-ups to drop pounds even when she was at her skinniest.

She was more shocked that Trevorrow so willingly stood up for her when that has never been the case before. “[I’ve] been asked to not use my natural body in cinema,” she boasted.

“On the third movie, it was actually because there were so many women cast, it was something that Colin felt very strongly about in terms of protecting me … because the conversation came up again, ‘We need to ask Bryce to lose weight.’”

Colin Trevorrow Acknowledges Different Women

One of the arguments that the director used when going to bat for the actress was that all women are made differently. “[Colin] was like, ‘There are lots of different kinds of women on this planet and there are lots of different kinds of women in our film,’” she said.

There was even a great benefit to her being curvier. “I got to do so many stunts that wouldn’t have been possible if I had been dieting.”

She went on to brag about the stunts she got to do. “I’m really thrilled [at] all the action I got to do, and I got to do it with my body, she was at her maximum strength, and I hope it is just yet another indication of what’s possible.”

Jurassic World: Domination Was Controversial

The film had a few kinks behind the scenes that didn’t feel good for women in the industry including her significant pay difference from co-star Chris Pratt. Variety claimed she earned $8 million whereas, Pratt earned $10 million.

“When I started negotiating for ‘Jurassic,’ it was 2014 and it was a different world, and I was at a great disadvantage,” she claimed. “Unfortunately, you have to sign up for three movies and so your deals are set.” So she kind of undercut herself in a sense.

However, Pratt continuously had her back in new negotiations.

“Whenever there was an opportunity to move the needle on stuff that hadn’t been already negotiated, like a game or a ride, he literally told me: ‘You guys don’t even have to do anything. I’m gonna do all the negotiating. We’re gonna be paid the same, and you don’t have to think about this, Bryce.’”

Howard appreciated it because that is where the big bucks come from. “I’ve been paid more for those kinds of things than I ever was for the movie.”

Weight Is Still An Issue In Hollywood

The actress isn’t alone in her quest for equal everything, many people in the industry continue to be shamed for their weight. Lizzo was just verbally attacked by comedian Aries Spears, the unprovoked comments were about the “Truth Hurts” singer’s “unhealthy” weight.

He implored her friends and family to not encourage her to love her body because it’s unhealthy. Meanwhile, fans quickly pointed out that he is no prize. Other stars like Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, Bebe Rexha, and more have had to shut haters down for commenting on their natural bodies.

Will it ever end?
