Hurricane Ian Panic Ensues As ALL Waffle Houses Shutdown In Preparation!

Something is amiss in Florida besides the pending hurricane headed its way, Waffle House has closed its locations and Floridians are taking that as a hilariously serious sign.

Waffle House Closed Due To Hurricane Ian

The popular all-day breakfast franchise closed most of its franchise locations in Florida, this has sent serious red flags to patrons of the restaurant. “The s**t has officially hit the fan in my area…Waffle House has closed due to hurricane Ian,” wrote a lover of the establishment.

They also posted a very interesting picture that explained why the franchise closing is big deal. They’re known to stay open under the worst of conditions, it takes a lot for the company to board up their windows and call it a day.

The flyer read, “FEMA once said they get a fairly good measure of how bad the situation after a storm by checking the local Waffle House” they provided alert levels of green, yellow, and red. If the store is level red that means it’s closed and the “situation is really bad”.  Surprise! Waffle House closed Its doors.

Y’all better hunker down now. You know what they say: Florida doesn’t start panicking about hurricanes until the Waffle House closes. #HurricanIan pic.twitter.com/enB4frinVC

Floridians Find It Both Comical & Scary

“HOLY SH*T EVERY WAFFLE HOUSE IS CLOSING BETWEEN TAMPA & ORLANDO,” realized one follower who promptly alerted her friends and family because they already know what that means.

Another concerned Florida resident listed what she watches for as an indicator to get outta dodge, “the key to hurricane panic is the following: 1. if Disney closes 2. if you go to the store to buy water, and even the Dasani is gone. if the dasani water is still there, even if all the others are gone, you’re fine. 3. if Waffle House closes.”

It seems like most people have the same consensus. “People who are not from here and don’t know about the Index don’t know how serious of a “oh fuck” this is. I don’t live in hurricane country and I’ve only seen Waffle House at code red during the Nashville flood iirc,” said someone who doesn’t even live in the state!

This is not a joke. This is legitimately a very, very bad sign.

Waffle House is well known in emergency planning circles for their extremely effective pre- and post-event operations. Closing is something they only do in the worst possible conditions. Evacuate now. #HurricaneIan https://t.co/NRAM0ABp0r

Twitter Followers Can’t Stop Joking About It

It was only one day ago that Floridians felt secure that hurricane Ian wasn’t going to be a big deal. “So far so good, Waffle House is still open. #HurricaneIan,” wrote one follower. “As long as Waffle House is open we know you are ok!” Wrote another follower breathing a sigh of relief. As you go down the comments, the panic begins to set in “Jim Cantore is IN my town AND our Waffle House closed…. Pretty sure we’re f*cked #HurricaneIan,” realized a Florida resident.

“Y’all, Waffle House went code red in Tampa. These folks don’t close until the seventh seal opens.”

Clearly, it’s getting real, and while the Florida residents in the area are trying to remain jovial about the currently category 4 hurricane that is rapidly approaching category 5.

Stay safe Florida!
