At 1:30 PM on Thursday, The Royal Family announced her death in a social media statement, which read, “The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.”

In the days following her passing, King Charles III was officially coronated in the country’s first-ever televised ceremony. On Thursday, September 29, three weeks to the day after she passed, her death certificate was released, revealing her official cause of death.

Queen Elizabeth II’s death certificate officially states that the longest-reigning monarch died of old age, as reported by Deadline. An extract from the National Records of Scotland stated that she died at 3:10 PM local time on Thursday, September 8, 2022, at Balmoral Castle in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. The certificate had been issued on September 16.

After she passed, the country initiated a formal period of mourning that ended on ten days ago on Monday, September 19, which marked the day of her state funeral. The occasion was one of the biggest broadcasting events in recent history.

Queen Elizabeth II was born in 1926 and became Queen in 1953. She celebrated her 70th anniversary on the throne only a few months before her passing. Her husband, Prince Philip, passed away last year, at the age of 99.
