Every ‘Bob’s Burgers’ Halloween Episode Ranked, from ‘Teen-a Witch’ to ‘The Hauntening’ to ‘Full Bars’

Whether it’s a trick-or-treating quest turned “Nightmare on Ocean Avenue Street” or a harrowing journey to “Heartbreak Hotel-oween,” there’s just no All Hallows’ Eve like one spent with “Bob’s Burgers.”

Fox’s much-loved animated sitcom about a second-generation restaurateur and his adorable family has served up years of binge-worthy Halloween specials, though it didn’t start celebrating the October holiday until its third season in 2013. Titled “Full Bars,” the inaugural Belcher Halloween special chronicled the chaos of a party-turned-crime scene at Teddy’s apartment with Bob and Linda working to solve a guinea pig’s murder, while Tina, Gene, and Louise made their maiden voyage to what’s now a regular “Bob’s Burgers” destination: the well-to-do neighboring town of King’s Head Island where all the best treats — and even worse tricks — are handed out.

The same year as “Full Bars” the Belchers would kick off their annual Thanksgiving and Christmas specials with “An Indecent Thanksgiving Proposal” and “God Rest Ye Merry Gentle-Mannequins” respectively. A slew of festive occasions would follow with Valentine’s Day, Easter, and even St. Patrick’s Day making their merry way to Wonder Wharf. These seasonal stories have become essential to the fabric of Loren Bouchard’s heartfelt tribute to imperfect but unconditional love.

“Bob’s Burgers” has been able to commemorate October 31 particularly well, with handfuls of non-specific spooky episodes paving the way for their triumphantly terrifying Halloween adventures. In addition to the holiday themed episodes ranked below, there’s Season 1’s “Human Flesh,” the pilot episode which, yes, involves the Belchers being accused of cannibalism; Season 3’s “The Deepening,” a parody of all time great nautical nightmare “Jaws” (that includes a brief image of Teddy with hair!); Season 5’s spine-chilling “Housetrap” about a possible murder at a beautiful ocean-side house; Season 8’s “The Silence of the Louise” in which fan favorite Millie does her best Hannibal Lecter impression; and more.

The best “Bob’s Burgers” Halloween specials combine the hair-raising humor of their scarier episodes with a rotation of sugary sweet traditions, from the kids’ punny costumes to Linda’s “happy” bat decorations to Bob’s burg-o-lanterns. Ranked from least to most memorable, this is every “Bob’s Burgers” Halloween special — so far — ranked.
