Fans of “Obi-Wan Kenobi” were hoping that they would get a new trailer on Star Wars Day, and they were not disappointed!
Star Wars Day, which is also known as May the 4th Be With You, takes place on May 4 of each year and is a day for celebration by Star Wars fans.
On Wednesday morning, Disney released yet another look at the “Obi-Wan Kenobi” series, which is scheduled to debut on Disney+ on May 27.

The latest “Star Wars” live-action series was supposed to debut on May 25 to mark the 45th anniversary of “A New Hope,” the very first “Star Wars” movie that came out on May 25, 1977. However, the premiere was delayed by two days to coincide with the annual Star Wars Celebration fan event, which takes in Anaheim, California this year.
The new look at the “Obi-Wan Kenobi” gave fans a look at the two new villains of the series, the Grand Inquisitor and a Force-sensitive inquisitor named Reva, played by “The Queen’s Gambit” star Moses Ingram. There are also several shots of Obi-Wan Kenobi. Ewan McGregor has reprised his role from the prequel series. Hayden Christensen has also reprised his role as Darth Vader/Anakin Skywalker for this series and the upcoming “Ahsoka” series, which is scheduled to be released sometime in 2023.
Although fans are excited to see the rematch between Obi-Wan and Darth Vader, other fans are excited to see what Moses Ingram and the new red-lightsaber-wielding villain will bring to the series.
‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ Villain Will Have A ‘A Very Significant Role’ In The Series
Series writer Joby Harold told Entertainment Weekly, “I’m really excited for what she’s doing to be seen because she contributes to the legacy of the Star Wars villain in a really interesting way in this story. She brings her own energy to that world of silhouette villains. And I think that she’s a worthy adversary, and the audience isn’t going to be expecting what she brings either.”
“I was really excited about this character because it’s a new one that is not from the animated series and it’s also, for me, really exciting also to bring a female villain and to have a dark side woman of a very significant role,” said director Deborah Chow. “She’s very ambitious and she’s got a lot going on, and I think Moses just did a fantastic job with it.”
Ingram talked about the excitement of joining the franchise, saying, “Everybody’s like ‘You have no idea what this is going to be like. This is going to be so crazy with the LEGO sets and action figures.’”
In a separate interview with Entertainment Weekly, series writer Joby Harold explained that the six-episode limited series “takes place ten years after ‘Revenge of the Sith’, in a time of darkness in the galaxy.”
He continued, “The Empire is in the ascendancy. And all the horrors that come with the Empire are being made manifest throughout the galaxy. And the Jedi Order as we know them are being all but wiped out. So everything that was in the prequels has crumbled.”
Harold explained that things are not looking good for the few surviving Jedi who managed to escape Order 66 in “Revenge of the Sith,” which closed out the “Star Wars” prequel trilogy.
Things Are Not Looking Good For Kenobi In New ‘Star Wars’ Series
“Those surviving Jedi, those that do survive, are on the run and they’re in hiding,” Harold explained. “And Vader and his Inquisitors are chasing them to the end of the galaxy.”
Harold added, “Within that hopeless fatalistic world, we find possibly the most famous of all our surviving Jedi in hiding struggling with that faith that defines the Jedi, and wanting to hold onto it and hoping to regain that faith within that sort of hopeless world.”
“Within that environment and that galaxy, [Obi-Wan Kenobi’s] faith is tested,” Harold explained. “And he goes on a journey that allows him to travel from that character that we saw in the last of the prequels, where [McGregor] really felt like he was embodying Obi-Wan Kenobi to a pretty extraordinary degree, and ends with him as the more finished article that Sir Alec Guinness gave to the world in A New Hope.”
He continued, “And so in this very specific time in the history of Star Wars, when the Jedi are on run, we get to sort of stand next to and watch Obi-Wan as he runs the gauntlet and has to survive a pretty extraordinary experience.”
Fans can see what goes down in “Obi-Wan Kenobi” when the six-episode limited series debuts on Disney+ on May 27.
