It sounds like Hugh Jackman’s role as Wolverine in Deadpool 3 might be bigger than first thought.

In a recent interview between Variety, Jackman, and Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds, the latter spoke about his excitement about bringing the characters together on screen, saying, “Oh my God, I’m thrilled. It’s like old home week. To get to be on set with one of my closest friends each and every day is a dream come true. But to do it with these two iconic characters side by side, that’s beyond our wildest dreams.”

Reynolds apparently first spoke to Marvel Studios president Kevin Keige three and a half years ago following Disney’s acquisition of Fox, where the actor pushed to bring in Wolverine. “It wasn’t possible then. For this to be happening now is pretty damn exciting.”

While the upcoming sequel is generally referred to as Deadpool 3, it’s not necessarily going to be the title of the film. “Well, not in my heart,” Jackman said of the name. “I’m pretty sure Wolverine wouldn’t like that title.”

Jackman’s return to the role was a surprise announcement from the pair of actors last month, and will mark both of their introductions to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The two also promised that it won’t affect the canon of fan-favorite film Logan, which served as a conclusive bookmark to the popular character.
