However, fans have noticed that host Alfonso Ribeiro has called Shangela by the wrong name. Now, Shangela is addressing the mistake in a hilarious TikTok video.

“Dancing With the Stars” host Alfonso Ribeiro recently got some heat from fans after calling Shangela by the wrong name. In a video posted to social media, you can hear Ribeiro refer to the “RuPaul’s Drag Race” star as “Angela,” not “Shangela.”

Fans were quick to point out the mistake. One fan commented, “They better get miss Shangie’s NAME RIGHT!,” while another wrote, “She should call him ‘Alonzo’.”

Shangela jumped on the “One Thing About Me” trend, where users tell a story to the beat of “MEAN!” by Madeline The Person. Shangela’s story is about how Alfonso Ribeiro called her by the wrong name, even hashtagging the video #whosangela.

“One thing about me is that just last week I was on ‘Dancing With the Stars’ and I was dancing so chic,” the video began. “And then we were like yes, come on, let’s get these scores and when they gave us an 8 I was like ‘yes Lord yes Lord’.”

“And then I hop up and I was like ‘let’s go upstairs so we can talk to Alfonso Ribeiro’ because I’ve loved him ever since he was Carlton and then I was like ‘we gonna get this baby, let’s get it done’.”

Shangela continued, “So he turned to Gleb and said ‘Gleb, how you gonna turn the dial down on Angela?’ and I was like ‘huh?’” before looking around the room and into the camera confused.

“Who is Angela?” the star continued to sing. “Once again, who is Angela?”

Concluding the video, the “RuPaul’s Drag Race” star said he still loves Ribeiro. “But that’s okay because I still love you Alfonso and everybody make sure you tune in and vote on Monday.”

Shangela Calls Alfonso Ribero Out For Using Wrong Terminology

During the second week of the competition, host Alfonso Ribeiro spoke to Shangela following her performance, asking the star what it’s like performing as the first male couple on the long-running competition series. Shangela was quick to call out Ribero for using the wrong terminology, further explaining what it meant to her to be a part of the show.

“Well, first of all, it’s male and Drag Diva, but yes, indeed,” Shangela said laughing. “Honestly, you know what? To be anyone who gets to walk through a door, there’s a responsibility. Not only to walk through there fiercely but also to push it open for the others coming behind. And that’s what we’re hoping to do tonight.”

The reality competition show recently moved from its home of ABC to Disney’s streaming service, Disney+, and airs every Monday night at 8 p.m. ET.
