The only child and daughter of renowned musical icon Elvis Presley, unfortunately, lost Benjamin to suicide at 27-years-old in July 2020.

On the heels of Baz Luhrmann’s “Elvis” biopic, Lisa got candid about how her late son would have loved the film, and her heart remains broken in his absence.

On Saturday, May 14, Lisa took to her Instagram page with a photo of the upcoming “Elvis” movie poster and explained she was absent from social media due to grief.

The ex-wife of late Michael Jackson wrote that she has not posted in a while as she is and forever will be in a state of mourning her son’s passing. She explained:

“Navigating through this hideous grief that absolutely destroyed and shattered my heart and my soul into almost nothing has swallowed me whole. Not much else aside from my other 3 children gets my time and attention anymore.”

Lisa wishes Benjamin could be here to see the “Elvis” movie, which she admitted to watching twice already, ahead of its June 24 premiere. She called the film “spectacular” and continued:

“Absolutely exquisite. Austin Butler channeled and embodied my father’s heart and soul beautifully. In my humble opinion, his performance is unprecedented and FINALLY done accurately and respectfully.”

The “Over Me” singer also praised Luhrmann’s storytelling, noting that viewers can feel the pure love, respect, and care he has for Elvis through the movie.

Lisa called the movie something she and her children can forever be proud of. She added that her offspring, 32-year-old actor Riley Keough and 13-year-old twins Finley and Harper Lockwood, reacted the same. She gushed:

“What moved me to tears as well was watching Riley and Harper, and Finley afterwards, all 3 visibly overwhelmed in the best way possible way, and so filled with pride about their grandfather and his legacy in a way that I have not previously experienced.”

Although Lisa is happy her other children witnessed the biopic, she could not help but miss the late Benjamin’s absence. She wrote:

“It breaks my heart that my son isn’t here to see it. He would have absolutely loved it as well.”

The “Sinking In” musician concluded by praising all those involved in the most recent retelling of her father’s story, adding that they “poured their hearts and souls” into accurately portraying her family.

The “Elvis” movie follows the star’s musical career and journey to global stardom, as well as his roller-coaster relationship with Tom Parker, his manager according to NME.

Pending the premiere of the biopic, a released clip showed the lead actor Austin Butler in character while giving an electric performance at the Louisiana Hayride at the start of his career in 1954.

Butler is famous for his stellar role in “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood” as Tex Watson. He is also known for MTV’S “The Shannara Chronicles.”

In the video, Tom Hanks, who plays Parker, said, “Now I don’t know nothing about music. But I could see in that girl’s eyes, he was a taste of forbidden fruit. She could have eaten him alive.”

The synopsis of Elvis revealed that Baz Luhrmann took a deep dive into the late musician’s life. It read:

“The story delves into the complex dynamic between Presley and Parker spanning 20 years, from Presley’s rise to fame to his unprecedented stardom, against the backdrop of the evolving cultural landscape and loss of innocence in America.”

Other castmates in the star-studded production include Olivia DeJonge, who plays Elvis’ wife Priscilla Presley, Helen Thomson, who stars as his mother Gladys, and Richard Roxburgh, who plays his father, Vernon.

The upcoming “Elvis” biopic will also feature David Wenham, Josh McConville, Luke Bracey, Kelvin Harrison Jr., and Kodi Smit-McPhee under the direction and production of Luhrmann.

Luhrmann co-wrote the play and is known for popular creative releases, including “The Get Down,” “The Great Gatsby,” and “Moulin Rouge.”

Craig Pearce makes up the other half of the writing team. On the production side, Patrick McCormick, Catherine Martin, Schuyler Weiss, and Gail Berman joined Luhrmann.
