James Corden Called Out For Plagiarizing Ricky Gervais’ Comedic Material!

James Corden has just been served a fresh, new pile of negative publicity.

A few weeks after the talk-show host was called out for his abysmal behavior at several high-end restaurants, a public apology and rescinding that public apology, the British celebrity is being accused of plagiarism.

On Monday, October 31st, the “Late Late Show with James Corden” host delivered a comedy bit about guitar lessons.

James Corden Faces New Wave Of Harsh Criticism

The entire bit sounded eerily similar exactly like a comedy bit Ricky Gervais told back in 2018.

“If someone puts up a poster in a town square that says ‘guitar lessons available’, like you don’t get people in the town going: ‘I don’t want to play guitar! I want to play the piano you piece of s**t’! Well that sign wasn’t for you,” Corden said. “It was for somebody else! You don’t have to get mad about all of it.”

Here is how Gervais’ 2018 bit goes, “That’s like going into a town square, seeing a big notice board and there’s a notice – guitar lessons – and you go, ‘But I don’t want f***ing want guitar lessons.’ Fine, it’s not for you then, just walk away. Don’t worry about it!”

Everything from Corden’s pacing of the joke to his mannerisms were nearly identical to Gervais.

In fact, “The Office” star actually sounded off about the similarities between the sketches.

Gervais quote tweeted ‘The Late Late Show’s’ tweet, which has since been deleted, and wrote, “the bit about the town square advert for guitar lessons is brilliant.”

A fan responded to the British comic asking, “Didn’t deliver it like you though. I assume he asked to use that joke?”

Gervais replied, “No. I reckon one of the writers ‘came up with it’ for him. I doubt he would knowingly just copy such a famous stand-up routine word for word like that.”

If you don’t know, every television talk show has a group of writers who help write jokes, sketches and segments for the show.

So, it’s highly possible one of Corden’s writers or even a group of writers are responsible for ripping off Gervais.

Another fan chimed in and asked the “After Life” star why he deleted his quote tweet from ‘The Late Late Show.’

Gervais joked, “Started to feel sorry for him ?.”

Why did you delete your original tweet about this?

Corden heard the uproar and issued a tweet about the stolen joke.

Inadvertently told a brilliant Ricky Gervais joke on the show last night, obviously not knowing it came from him. It’s brilliant, because it’s a Ricky Gervais joke. You can watch all Ricky’s excellent specials on Netflix. J x

As previously mentioned, this new wave of criticism of the British actor comes after he was called out for having horrible manners and a bad attitude toward restaurant staff.

Restaurant owner Keith McNally narrated several instances when the TV personality mistreated his staff on some occasions when he came in to dine.

Corden has since come under fire for those claims, worsened by an interview he did, in which he claimed that he had done nothing wrong.

Last month, Corden fully addressed the incident and shared that he regretted his actions. During the October 24th episode of ‘TLLS,’ Corden reflected on the recent controversy about him being rude to the staff of the famous New York City restaurant Balthazar. The comedian shared that his wife’s food allergy spurred the incident.

Corden said, per Yahoo, “We sit down, we ordered, and my wife explained that she has a serious food allergy, right? So when everybody’s meals came, my wife was given the food that she was allergic to. But she hadn’t taken a bite of it or anything, all was good.”

The show host added that the employee returned the food to create the proper order but ended up bringing the incorrect dish again. He became agitated then and ended up criticizing the staff without thinking first.

He continued, “as her meal came wrong to the table the third time, in the heat of the moment, I made — I made a sarcastic, rude comment about cooking it myself. And it is a comment I deeply regret.”

In light of the claims going viral, Corden also gave an explanation for why he told The New York Times that he had done nothing wrong. The comic said he believed he was safe because he did not curse or use disrespectful words toward the employee.

He said on the show, “Because I didn’t shout or scream, like, I didn’t get up out of my seat, I didn’t call anyone names or use derogatory language, I’ve been walking around thinking that I hadn’t done anything wrong, right?”

The comedian then expanded on the point by noting that even though he avoided using negative language, his behavior can still be characterized as impolite.

Corden said. “But the truth is, I have. I made a rude comment, and it was wrong. It was an unnecessary comment. It was ungracious to the server.”
