The bust-up reportedly started after Boca wanted a penalty given for a handball in the area during the final moments of the game.

After the first scuffle had ended, Tello was left with more work to do moments later as Racing’s Carlos Alcaraz scored a late winner, sending the stadium into pandemonium.

Alcaraz’s jubilant celebrations left a sour taste in the mouth of the Boca players, causing an almighty frenzy to break out. One of the Boca players confronted him on the edge of the pitch, pushing him, grabbing his ear and then throwing the ball at him.

Alan Varela was then shown a second yellow card for the home side.

Tello is one of six South American referees who will officiate at the World Cup this winter. During his time as an official, the Argentine has handed out 612 yellow cards and 45 red cards in 118 professional games.

This isn’t the first time that the 40-year-old has shown more than one red card in a game either. Back in September during a game between Racing and Club Atletico Platense, Tello handed out three red cards and six yellow cards.
