From Marseille to LA, Emilie Pesante describes her journey as camerawoman

Born in Marseille in South of France, Emilie is a creative Cinematographer.

From a very young age, she dreamed of living in Los Angeles and working in TV. A few years later, her dream came true.

After being graduate at ENSAV (National Superior School Audiovisuel ) and at the Cadase (Journalism school), Emilie moved to Paris and started to work on many successful shows for TF1, M6, Canal+, France tv etc over 15 years. She became a radio Director, where programs are filmed and broadcast live on the official website and on a new series documentary “Les Mamans” aired daily on 6ter and produced by Warner Bros, France. The show has enjoyed huge success and popularity.

In 2017, she wanted to live new adventures and she moved to Los Angeles. Having no contacts her career has been built through word of mouth in this very competitive industry.

In October 2019, She began working with the American channel FOX Soul, a new live and interactive streaming channel dedicated to African American viewers. She worked every day on 3 live talk shows, hosted by Claudia Jordan, Mike Hill & Donny Harrell, Tammi Mac and Dr. Sean McMillan.

Covid came and everything was shutdown. Emilie had to start from the beginning. She worked hard and the director Eddie October gave a the chance to work on the game show

“You bet your life with Jay Leno”. They loved her creativity and French touch.

This show changed her life. Now she is known and respected. She is in demand. Now she works on renowned shows like “Pictionary” hosted by Jerry O’Connell aired on FOX, “Big Brother” on CBS, and she just started to work on “The Morning show” on Apple TV.

The journey wasn’t easy but If I had to give an advice to someone who wants to work as Camera Operator, it would be to still believe in yourself, stay confident and persistent. Don’t be shy to make that call and try to grab a coffee with a producer or director. Nothing ventured, nothing gained!
