Kathy Griffin Suspended From Twitter For Impersonating Elon Musk
New “Chief Twit” Elon Musk has officially suspended Kathy Griffin from Twitter after she impersonated him on the platform.
The move comes only days after the Tesla CEO decided to enact his $8 monthly Twitter fee. To help reduce the number of accounts that are no doubt planning to impersonate public figures with the blue check, Musk has decided to permanently suspend accounts that impersonate someone else.
It looks like comedian Kathy Griffin might be the first casualty of Musk’s new rule.

Even though her handle still read @kathygriffin, she had changed her profile picture and name to read “Elon Musk. Griffin tweeted, “After much spirited discussion with the females in my life. I’ve decided that voting blue for their choice is only right (They’re also sexy females, btw.) #VoteBlueToProtectWomen.”
Although plenty laughed off the “joke,” many weren’t laughing when news started to circulate that Griffin had been suspended on Twitter for impersonating the SpaceX CEO.
“Actually, she was suspended for impersonating a comedian,” Musk tweeted in response to the news adding, “But if she really wants her account back, she can have it. For $8.”

On Sunday, Musk clarified a new Twitter policy: “Going forward, any Twitter handles engaging in impersonation without clearly specifying ‘parody’ will be permanently suspended.”
“Previously, we issued a warning before suspension, but now that we are rolling out widespread verification, there will be no warning,” he wrote. “This will be clearly identified as a condition for signing up to Twitter Blue. Any name change at all will cause temporary loss of verified checkmark.”
Hardly seems fair to the Trans community or people who legally change their name, since there is no legit verification process by which they can prove their name has changed.

Another user took aim at Musk’s young son with his ex-girlfriend, pop star Grimes, tweeting, “Screenshotting this tweet for when X Æ A-12 turns 18 and is old enough to petition the courts.”
Ethan Klein Clearly Marked His Parody Account… and Still Got Suspended
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Kathy Griffin isn’t the only celebrity to lose her Twitter account over the weekend.
Co-host of the popular show H3H3, Ethan Klein, also had his Twitter account suspended after he impersonated Musk to test the new policy. The popular YouTuber had tweeted a joke about Musk’s alleged friendship with Jeffrey Epstein.
However, he had been sure to mark that his tweets were parodies and that his account was a parody, changing both his bio and the header. After his account was suspended, the H3H3 show account tweeted, “Comedy is dead on Twitter and Elon Musk killed it.”
