Sky Sports accused of ‘taking the p***’ out of Man Utd with Erik ten Hag blunder

Sky Sports have been told they are "taking the p***" after misspelling Erik ten Hag's name on his reel during an interview – a day after a Marcus Rashford mishap.

Manchester United emerged victorious over Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup on Thursday night in a game that exploded into life. After a dour first-half, six goals were scored in 45 minutes that saw the Red Devils claim a 4-2 win.

Rashford was awarded the man of the match award after an illuminating performance on the same day he was called up to the World Cup squad for England this winter. However, Sky Sports apparently forgot to give him his award and he had to grab it off the table himself without a presentation.

And the latest error has occurred on live TV where, during an interview, Ten Hag's name was spelt Erik hen Tag. Eagle-eyed fans have been left fuming, too, fed up by Sky Sports and their gaffes.

One fan hit back on Twitter, saying: "Forgetting to give Rashford his MOTM award and now “Erik Hen Tag” @SkySports taking the p*** at the moment."

Another wrote: "Who is Erik Hen Tag, come on @SkySports it’s not hard." While a third was a lot more angry, writing: "Who the f*** is Erik Hen Tag?"

It was not even the first time that they misspelled the United manager's name on that night, with another interview portraying the same spelling. It may be that there is someone at Sky Sports who might need to take a closer look at Ten Hag's actual name…

Nevertheless, it was a fine performance from United in the end – who face Burnley in the next round at Old Trafford. With one of Manchester City or Liverpool heading out after drawing each other, this could be a competition that Ten Hag could land in his debut season.
