Frank Lampard ‘officially worse than Rafael Benitez’ as Everton boss favourite for sack

Frank Lampard currently has a worse win percentage as Everton manager than his predecessor Rafael Benitez.

The former Chelsea manager saw his side suffer another humiliating loss to Bournemouth. Lampard demanded a reaction after the Cherries overcame the Merseysiders 4-1, to send them tumbling out of the Carabao Cup.

Unfortunately, there was little to no reaction, as Bournemouth comfortably ran out 3-0 winners at the Vitality Stadium. And this latest defeat not only leaves Everton in 17th position hovering above the relegation zone, but it has dragged Lampard beneath Benitez in the club’s all-time managerial rankings.

The defeat on the South Coast means Lampard’s win ratio is now only 38.7%, compared to the 38.7% ratio Benitez had when he was sacked last year. Just when things couldn't get any worse, Lampard is now the bookies favourite to be given the sack in the whole division.

“Few managers will want a heavy defeat ahead of a long break before the next game and that’s exactly what’s happened to under-fire Everton manager Frank Lampard, who is now the 1/2 favourite to be the next Premier League manager sacked having been 4/1 before today’s 3-0 defeat against Bournemouth,” a spokesperson from Betfair said.

“Everton are 13/8 to be relegated and sit just one place above the drop zone while the league breaks for the World Cup. Punters have been backing Lampard to go as over one month until the next game could be a good time for the club to bring in a replacement.”

Everton have lost five of their last seven Premier League matches. This awful run of form precedes an impressive spell which saw them go five games without a defeat and record a notable 0-0 draw against fierce rivals Liverpool.

However, the only real positive Lampard can currently take is that his side now have several weeks to recover during the World Cup break. There will be no rest for the wicked, as Everton’s Premier League campaign will restart on boxing day, when they host Wolves.

They then have a concerning away fixture against Manchester City in New Years Eve, before heading back to Goodison Park three days later to face Brighton and Hove Albion.
