Kieffer Moore has been a bright spark for Bournemouth this season – but the big Welsh international hasn't always played at the top.

Moore – who has notched three times so far this season – will be part of Wales' squad for the World Cup next week. However, a decade ago he was playing non-league football while working as a fully-qualified lifeguard at a gym.

But when Moore could finally play football full-time, he walked away without handing in his notice. Moore told the BBC : "Yeah, so at that point, I was working in a gym as a lifeguard.

"It was intense, so some mornings I would be up at half five do my whole day's work and then some days training – and I'd have to go two hours to Truro to train. And then wake up the next morning at the same time."

However, when asked if he remembered handing in his notice to play football full-time, Moore added: "I don't know if I actually handed in my notice. This is awkward, but yeah, if they're watching, I'm sorry."

Moore then joked he'd presumed they had noticed that he'd stopped turning up.

Moore started his career at Truro City and worked his way up through the divisions in England – with a brief spell in Norway with Viking.

This season is Moore's first in the English top flight, and it was his goal that sent the Cherries back to the top division of English football.
