Rising star, Sydney Sweeney recently kicked off her journey to earning awards with not one but two Emmy nominations for her performance in two different series. The Emmys announced the list of nominees on Tuesday, with the award show set to air on September 12 at 8 p.m.

Besides Sweeney, her co-star on Euphoria, Zendaya got nominated for Outstanding lead actress in a drama series for her portrayal of Rue and Outstanding original music and lyrics. She also broke the record for the youngest female producer nominated by the Emmys and the youngest two-time acting nominee.

During a recent interview, Sweeney talked about how appreciative she was of the awards and shed light on her most recent project. The actress also said she was looking forward to the award night to reunite with her cast and crew from her two HBO nominated shows, “Euphoria” and “The White Lotus. “

Sydney Sweeney Got Two Emmy Nominations

With the announcement of the Emmy award nominees, several nominated actors took to social media to share their elation and gratitude. Sweeney, known for her role as Cassie Howard in “Euphoria,” was one of them. The teen show got 16 Emmy nominations, including one for outstanding drama series, while “The White Lotus” earned 20 nominations.

The young actress was nominated for not one but two roles as Best Supporting Actress in “Euphoria” and “The White Lotus.” In a video she shared, Sweeney was seen calling her mother after she heard the news. She dialed the number while sitting in the passenger seat of a vehicle and expressed her excitement to her mother.

After her mother picked up the call, she yelled, “Congratulations!” The 24-year-old responded in the same fashion, “Mom!” She took the phone call off speaker then and got emotional while talking to her mother. Sweeney was seen thanking her for her support while laughing. She ended the conversation by informing her mother that she had some calls to attend to and that she would call her immediately after.

Sydney Sweeney Is ‘Beyond Appreciative’

In a recent interview with People Magazine, the actress once again went into how she felt when she heard of the nominations and talked about a different project she was currently working on. “I’m excited; I’m in disbelief; I’m beyond appreciative. It’s a great day,” she declared.

While talking about the new project, she said, “I’m in pre-production for ‘Madame Webb,’ so I’m kind of all over the place today going from fittings to rehearsals to table reads. I was in the car, and my phone started blowing up. I saw it, and I called my mom. Then, I called my team, then my dad, then my brother. I was just … sitting in the car!”

According to Sweeney, she never dreamed of getting nominated at all, let alone twice. She revealed that when acting, she deeply immersed herself in her characters, fell in love with them, and didn’t ponder about the whole award aspect.

The actress said, “I wasn’t really expecting this. When I fell in love with acting, and when I fall in love with my characters, I don’t really think about the whole award aspect of it. I think there are so many incredible actors that I was rooting for, so I wasn’t ready.”

She Sees The Emmy’s As A ‘Fun Reunion’

During her interview, the actress revealed that several of her co-stars from the two shows had already reached out to her to congratulate her. One is her best friend, Maude Apatow, who acted as her sister, Lexi Howard, on “Euphoria.” “My phone has been blowing up,” she exclaimed. “I’ve never had so many text messages!”

The 24-year-old also mentioned that besides getting the award, she was looking forward to the Emmys night because it would feel like a “fun reunion” for her and her crew on both “Euphoria” and “The White Lotus.”

Sweeney said, “I always love it because it’s such a fun reunion. I get to see my cast and crew from ‘Euphoria’ and ‘The White Lotus,’ and it’s such a celebratory night honoring everyone’s hard work. Everybody puts so much of themselves into these shows. I’m excited to celebrate. ”

A few hours after the announcement on Tuesday, Sweeney logged on to Instagram to talk about how proud she was of the shows and thanked her mom for being there for her. The post read, “What a morning! Thank you so much to the @televisionacad for my Emmy nominations!”

“It’s an honor to know that both Olivia and Cassie have connected with so many. I’m so proud of both these shows and grateful to everybody that’s been part of them. But most importantly, mum, I love you; we did it through the ups and downs! Thank you, thank you!!” she concluded.

The message prompted several supportive and congratulatory comments from the actress’s fans and peers. Followers on Twitter also had the same view as Sweeney’s video was met with praise and her fans agreed that the actress was given her just due.
