Declan Rice makes promise to unleash bizarre celebration if he scores at World Cup

Declan Rice is planning a chicken dance celebration if he bags a goal at the World Cup.

The England midfielder has revealed his bizarre plot ahead of England’s opener against Iran on Monday in Doha. Rice, 23, is set for his first appearance in the tournament.

And the West Ham ace has revealed a promise to Hammers first-team coach Kevin Nolan if he scores. “I did promise Kevin Nolan my next goal, I’d run off and do the chicken,” he told the Lions' Den on England’s YouTube channel. "I think I’d end up doing ten celebrations at once.”

Rice was one of the England stars at Euro 2020 as the Three Lions reached the final at Wembley. But this will be his first go on the biggest of all football stages as Southgate’s men prepare to face Iran next week.

Rice revealed how Southgate inspired the squad when they met up earlier this week before jetting out to Qatar. He said: “Yeah, I think from the moment we got to St. George’s Park, that’s when it hit me that we are going to a World Cup.

“Because of the Premier League, there’s not been that chance to switch our mindset.…when Gareth spoke, it was goosebumps stuff. This is a World Cup we’re going to, what a privilege.

“To finally be here is so special. Honestly if you sat down with every player, I think they’d say the same thing, you never know how far you can go in football.

“If you believe and push yourself then anything is possible and now we are on the biggest stage. It’s hard to find the words, I can’t explain it.

“There’s less than 250 people that have represented England at a World Cup and I’m one of them. It’s hard to explain what it actually means. I think when you play the games and you are on the pitch, that’s when I think I’ll be able to speak about it. It’s all a bit of a blur at the minute.”
