Seven-time Pro Bowler Antonio Brown may have deepened the divisions between him and Tom Brady after sharing a critical text from the NFL legend.

Brown, 34, played alongside Brady with the New England Patriots in 2019 before reuniting for a season-and-a-half as a Tampa Bay Buccaneer (2020/21). However, Brown's spell in Florida came to an abrupt end in January of this year when he stripped off his kit and left the field midway through a tight win over the New York Jets.

The incident was particularly frustrating for Brady, who has described Brown as being "like a brother" to him and reportedly vouched for the player when the Bucs sought to sign him. That brotherly bond may now be broken, however, after Brown trolled Brady following his divorce from supermodel Gisele Bundchen before tweeting an alleged text between the two from May 2021.

“You are demonstrating very poor decisions and poor communication to so many people who have gone above and beyond to help you," read the message, a screengrab of which was posted on Tuesday before being deleted. "You are acting selfish and unfortunately many of those people are exhausted by the erratic and unpredictable emotional behaviour.

“When I met you, you were humble, willing to learn and anxious to improve things in your life. In a short period of time, you have done those things and accomplished some great things. And very much on the path to success long term.”

The context behind the purported text is unclear, having allegedly occurred not long after Brown signed a one-year contract extension to remain with the Buccaneers (April 2021). Brady and Brown won a Super Bowl together earlier in the same year—Brown's first and Brady's seventh—after beating the Kansas City Chiefs.

Brady continued: “Unfortunately you have reverted very much back to a young immature man that is selfish, self serving, irrational and irresponsible. I for one, am disappointed in many behaviours over the past few months.

"You have seemed to have lost that humility and that APG [a favoured term by Brown, standing for 'appreciation, perspective, gratitude']. You have gone from hanging around good quality people that had genuine interest in seeing you succeed, to seeing others whose lives are erratic and out of control and leading you down a negative path.”

Brown is currently a free agent and hasn't played a down in the NFL since that mid-match exit against the Jets in January. It's Brown's contention that he was cut by head coach Bruce Arians after being told to play on despite an injury, though the Bucs insist they weren't informed the wide-out was hurt.
