Jamie Carragher fires shot at Rio Ferdinand over Cristiano Ronaldo ahead of juicy debate

Jamie Carragher has fired a shot at Rio Ferdinand over Cristiano Ronaldo ahead of a juicy debate between the former England team-mates.

Ronaldo has sent shockwaves through the world of football after admitting he feels "betrayed" by Manchester United in an explosive interview with Piers Morgan. Reacting to the interview, Carragher took to social media and aimed a sly dig at Ronaldo's former United team-mates Ferdinand, Roy Keane and Patrice Evra.

Carragher had claimed the trio were the 1% of United fans who will side with Ronaldo instead of Erik ten Hag off the back of the interview.

"99% of United fans will be on the side of ETH, which shows how badly Ronaldo has handled this," wrote the ex-Liverpool defender. He then added: "The 1% will be Rio, Roy & Patrice…"

Ferdinand then clapped back by responding: "Morning Carra… u wanna come on Vibe With Five to discuss today?" Carragher accepted the offer to appear on Ferdinand's podcast, which will stream at 11:45am on Monday morning.

However, Carragher could not resist firing one final shot at Ferdinand as he jokingly wrote: "Have you left the WhatsApp group chat yet??"

The social media back and forth between Carragher and Ferdinand comes after Ronaldo risked a colossal fine from United with his bombshell chat with Morgan.

During the discussion, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner took aim at manager Erik ten Hag as well as former interim boss Ralf Rangnick and admitted he feels betrayed by the club.

"Not only the coach," explained Ronaldo. "But the other two or three guys around that are around the club. Honestly, I shouldn't say that, I don't know, but listen I don't care, I'm always…

"People should listen to the truth. Yes, I feel betrayed and I felt that some people don't want me here, not only here but last year too."
