Premier League table without VAR shows Liverpool in 12th and West Ham up seven places

The Premier League table without VAR throws up a fair few changes – with Liverpool one of the teams most effected.

Love it or hate it, VAR is here to stay and rarely a game goes by when it isn't called into use. It therefore has a major impact on how the table shapes up.

Thanks to ESPN's Dale Johnson, we're able to see how much different it would look if VAR hadn't of been in operation this season. They remove the first overturn in every match and then the final result is predicted using a series of factors.

Their findings show the biggest loser at the World Cup break would be Liverpool, who's five points gained from VAR is the most in the league. Removing those sees them tumble from sixth to 12th.

Brentford also fall six places from 10th due to a loss of three points. Manchester United would lose three too, seeing them slip from fifth to sixth.

The other major loser would be Crystal Palace – a loss of three points for them drops them from 11th to 15th. Newcastle and Chelsea lose two points each, while Nottingham Forest are docked one.

On the other hand, the biggest gainer from the removal of VAR would be West Ham. David Moyes' side have missed out on four points which would take them up to ninth, a gain of seven places.

Manchester City are the next biggest gainer, with an additional three points closing the gap to table toppers Arsenal. Although Mikel Arteta's men do gain a point themselves.

Tottenham edge Newcastle into third spot and Brighton move into fifth with their respective two-point gains. Bournemouth, Everton and Leeds all also get two points back.

Fulham get one, meaning Aston Villa, Southampton and Wolves are the only teams to not have a change in points.
