The timing of Cristiano Ronaldo's NFT collection announcement has not gone down well on social media – with many calling out a 'lack of self-awareness' amid his Manchester United row.

The 37-year-old, who has now joined up with Portugal on international duty before the 2022 World Cup, has torn into United, Erik ten Hag and former team-mates in an interview with Piers Morgan.

With the full TalkTV chat to go out across Wednesday and Thursday (November 15 and 16) the timing of his Binance NFT collection release just days later has been slammed.

As well as saying he has no respect for Ten Hag, Ronaldo has slammed the Glazer family as well as Wayne Rooney and Gary Neville among others.

Following his comments on Rooney, Sky Sports report that the DC United boss has been left bemused by the criticism, reiterating that Ronaldo is in the top two players in the world.

The report added that Rooney feels no animosity towards his former Old Trafford colleague – and won't be offering a full statement on the matter.

Ronaldo had said: "I don't know why he criticises me so badly… probably because he finished his career and I'm still playing at high level."

Then added: "I’m not going to say that I'm looking better than him. Which is true…"
