Mané was named in the African nation’s squad for the tournament despite suffering a leg injury this week. The winger hobbled off  the pitch in Bayern Munich’s 6-1 win against Werder Bremen with initial reports claiming that he would be ruled out of the World Cup.

It was later reported that Mané had suffered damage to his right fibula, increasing concerns that he may not recover in time for the tournament in Qatar.

However Fatma Samoura, a member of the country’s governing body, has said that they will do whatever they can to ensure their captain plays at the tournament and are hoping for “miracles.”

“We are going to use witch doctors,” she told Europe 1.

“I don’t know (if they’re effective) but in this instance, we’re going to use them anyway. We are hoping for miracles. He has to be there.”

The Bayern Munich forward has had another electric season and recently finished second in the Ballon d’Or behind Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema.

Mané also won’t feature in Bayern’s last game before the Bundesliga pauses for the World Cup.

Senegal are yet to officially announce their squad and will do so on Friday (November 11) ahead of their campaign. The Lions are in Group A and will face off against host nation Qatar, as well as go up against Ecuador and the Netherlands.

There is also the possibility that Mané and Senegal could go up against England in last 16 if both teams qualify.
