New Arrivals for Netflix November 2022

Netflix is proving the goods for the 2022 holiday season, and this all kicks off in November. Subscribers have been treated to huge titles like Enola Holmes 2 this month, with more highly-anticipated original films still on the way. From Slumberland starring Jason Momoa to The Wonder starring Florence Pugh, there is no shortage of star-studded Netflix exclusives in November 2022. Out of all these exciting releases, however, there will perhaps be no bigger Netflix streaming event than the premiere of Wednesday. Famed filmmaker Tim Burton finally brings his take on the iconic Addams Family characters to the screen with the help of rising star Jenna Ortega. Needless to say, Burton and Ortega make for a dynamic creative duo that is not to be missed.

Moving on to other films and shows that made their way onto Netflix in November 2022, fans will be happy to know that all three seasons of Key & Peele are available together again after moving in from HBO Max. Animation lovers hungry for more stop motion storytelling after watching Henry Selick’s newly released Wendell & Wild will be able to stream Laika’s The Boxtrolls. One of the studio’s more underrated films, Missing Link, was just added to the service last month as well. These are not the only animated films worthy to stream though. Dreamworks Animation’s The Bad Guys just hit Netflix too and it makes for a perfect watch with the family.

There’s way more ground to cover in our monthly recs. Check them out below and keep scrolling for the full list of everything coming to and leaving Netflix in November 2022. You can also find this month’s latest arrivals and departures from HBO Max and Disney+ right here on DiscussingFilm.

Our Recs:

My Father’s Dragon

Netflix is shaping up to be a prime platform for animation, and the streaming debut of My Father’s Dragon only continues this powerful notion. The latest 2-D animated tale from Cartoon Saloon – the Irish studio behind beloved, award-winning films like Wolfwalkers and The Breadwinner – My Father’s Dragon is adapted from Ruth Stiles Gannett’s 1948 children’s book of the same name.

A runaway boy travels to a faraway island and befriends a captive dragon who might not only hold the secret to saving the island’s colorful group of animal inhabitants from pending danger but also the boy’s own livelihood back home. Starring Jacob Tremblay, Gaten Matarazzo, Whoopi Goldberg, Ian McShane, Alan Cumming, and Rita Moreno, My Father’s Dragon packs a stronger emotional punch than you might expect.

My Father’s Dragon hits Netflix November 11, 2022!

The Wonder

Based on real-life historical phenomena, The Wonder sees Florence Pugh continue her hot streak of a year with yet another riveting performance. We find ourselves in 1860s Ireland when an experienced English nurse is sent to a remote village to investigate a supposed miracle. She must study a young girl who claims to not have eaten anything in 4 months, despite appearing healthy and mentally stable. The child says the will of God is keeping her in good health but as the nurse soon discovers, these beliefs are far more dangerous as the entire village’s peace and unity all come down to this young girl keeping up this act. Reportings of “Fasting Girls” go as back as the middle ages, and The Wonder sheds some light on the dangers of blind faith and its deep roots in our history.

The Wonder debuts on Netflix November 16, 2022!

Wednesday

Tim Burton makes a lively return to form with Wednesday, a new 8-episode series that follows Wednesday Addams in her high school years. Jenna Ortega, who has already established herself as a scream queen in the making this year with both Scream (2022) and Ti West’s X, brings a fresh twist to the titular lead, but she’s not alone. Rounding out the Addams Family is Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams, Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams, Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams, and Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester. Gwendoline Christie makes her way onto the scenes as well, playing a new adult foe for Wednesday.

As she comes face to face with the trials and tribulations of adolescence, making new friends and enemies in school, Wednesday will also have to come to terms with her new psychic abilities and solve a supernatural mystery that has affected her family for decades. No Tim Burton production would be complete without the main theme composed by long-time collaborator Danny Elfman, of course. Wednesday will be one of the most-talked-about Netflix shows of November, so plan accordingly.

Wednesday premieres on Netflix November 23, 2022!
