Manchester United teen sensation Alejandro Garnacho is close to landing a bumper new contract.

The Argentinian forward, 18, who has scored twice in his last four outings for Erik ten Hag’s men, currently earns £5,000-a-week at Old Trafford.

But that salary will rocket to a whopping £50,000 as the club reward him for his explosive emergence on the first-team scene under Ten Hag.

Negotiations are well underway with Garnacho’s representatives and the United hierarchy are optimistic they will be successfully completed before the end of the year.

Fears that a poor attitude was holding back his progress – first raised by Reds skipper Bruno Fernandes – have been answered in sensational fashion by the flying winger.

After scoring in the 1-0 Europa League victory over Real Sociedad, Garnacho then came off the bench to rescue United’s Carabao Cup hopes, inspiring a second-half comeback over Aston Villa.

And just four days later he delivered a super-sub display against Fulham in the Premier League, scoring a brilliant last-gasp goal in a 2-1 triumph at Craven Cottage.

Although those heroics came too late for him to force his way into Argentina’s World Cup squad, Garnacho is sure to be in the spotlight once the domestic season resumes on Boxing Day.

Which is why United want to tie him down on a lucrative, long-term contract as soon as possible – and kill off growing interest in last season’s FA Youth Cup winner from rival clubs in Europe.

Electric pace, mesmerising skill and an eye for goal make Garnacho, a £450,000 buy from Atletico Madrid in August 2020, one of football’s hottest prospects.

Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona are both big admirers and are monitoring the player’s situation closely.

But United are confident that the new terms on the table, amounting to an incredible 900 percent pay-rise, will ensure the South American sees his future over here rather than back in Spain.

The length of the deal is expected to be five years and will have incremental pay increases built into it.
