Saudi Arabia fan fires gun into air as Argentina win celebrations quickly turn wild

A Saudi Arabia fan has started firing a gun into the air as the Argentina win celebrations begin to turn wild.

The Green Falcons pulled off one of the World Cup's biggest ever shocks on Tuesday morning as they came from behind to beat two-time winners Argentina in their opening group match. A pair of quickfire goals from Saleh Al Shehri and Salem Al Dawsari turned the game on its head after Lionel Messi's first half penalty had given Argentina the lead.

Saudi Arabian supporters have since been seen celebrating the win in style and have even been given a national holiday as a result.

Footage of the celebrations shared on social media have shown some fans going wild after the full-time whistle, including one supporter with an automatic rifle.

In the video, a group of fans can be seen cheering in a crowded room as the match ended, before the camera pans to a man walking out of the building.

He then raises a gun into the air and lets off several rounds of ammunition as the other fans film his antics from the doorway.

In another clip, a group of fans can be seen jubilantly jumping to their feet and embracing as they watched the conclusion to the match.

One member of the group, though, appeared to get slightly overzealous as they made their way to the door in the corner of the room.

They could then be seen taking the door off it's hinges before carrying it through the now empty doorway as they continued to celebrate the victory.

Tuesday's win over Argentina was just Saudi Arabia's fourth in the World Cup and only their second since 1994. They have previously only advanced from the group stage once, on their tournament debut 28 years ago.

However, they head into the second round of matches top of group C after Poland and Mexico played out a goalless draw later in the day. Saudi Arabia will face Poland on Saturday before taking on the Mexicans next Wednesday.
