Man Utd announce Cristiano Ronaldo exit with ruthlessly blunt 67-word statement

Manchester United announced Cristiano Ronaldo's exit from the club with a ruthless 67-word statement.

The Red Devils confirmed on Tuesday evening that the 37-year-old forward has left the club with immediate effect via a mutual agreement. His departure from Old Trafford comes just days after he criticised the club and his treatment in an explosive interview with friend and broadcaster Piers Morgan.

United confirmed the news of Ronaldo's exit on their club website with an official statement thanking him for his services across two spells with the club.

Ronaldo's future at the club had been thrown into immediate doubt following the release of his bombshell interview with Morgan, during which he admitted he had felt "betrayed" by United.

He also hit out at the club's owners, manager Erik ten Hag, former interim boss Ralf Rangnick and even some of his own team-mates.

The Portugal international returned to United last summer, joining from Juventus after 12 years away from England. However, he had fallen out of favour since Ten Hag's arrival and scored just once in 10 Premier League matches before the World Cup break.

Ronaldo is currently in Qatar with the rest of the Portuguese national team as they prepare to begin their World Cup campaign against Ghana on Thursday.

Ahead of the match, he discussed the risk of him being sacked by United and his viral dressing room interaction with Bruno Fernandes as he spoke to reporters in a pre-match press conference.
