Boxing fans up in arms as Tyson Fury vs Derek Chisora PPV matches British record fee

Boxing fans have been left up in arms after the pay-per-view price for Tyson Fury's trilogy fight with Derek Chisora was announced. Fury was initially set to take on Anthony Joshua next month, however talks between the two teams soon broke down.

As a result, Fury's old foe Chisora has since stepped in and the British pair will take to the ring on December 3 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Those who won't be attending the North London arena will be able to tune in live on BT Sport.

As with any other big name fight, a pay-per-view price will come for those wanting to watch the fight, and this time around fans will have to pay a British record fee.

BT Sport confirmed on Tuesday that fans will have to pay £26.95 to watch the bout on fight night. The high-end price matches a PPV record for British boxing, set by Anthony Joshua's defeat to Oleksandr Usyk in the summer.

Unsurprisingly fans are less than impressed with the pricing, and a number of them took to social media to criticise the cost. Hitting out at promoter Frank Warren, Fury and BT Sport one Twitter user – @TheBlueDodger – wrote: "Stadium and a UK record £26.95 PPV price for Fury v Chisora 3.

"@Tyson_Fury, @FrankWarren and @BTSportBoxing have had a stinker here! Cost of living crisis, be mad to pay it!" @Tomkenyon22 did not hold back in their slamming, tweeting: "Daylight robbery for a glorified spar."

Directing a post at the two fighters, @AFC_Glen added: "Feels like you’re fleecing fans for as much as possible. How is that price point valid. It should of been £9.95 at the very most. Boxing has become about making money from the fans and not about the sport or the competition."

The fight sees Fury come out of supposed retirement to take on Chisora, after he announced that he had called time on his career after defeating Dillian Whyte in April.

And now it seems Fury's career will even go past his latest bout, with the Gypsy King recently revealing he still has his eyes on Joshua. He told the High Performance Podcast.: "I don't think I can retire today because I need that Joshua fight We have been trying to make that fight for years. It's the fight that people want to see. It's the fight that I want to see as a boxing fan."
