Neymar has been spotted 'crying' as fans fear injury threatens Brazil star's World Cup through injury.

The PSG forward went down with an apparent ankle injury and now supporters are worried that his time in Qatar is over.

During the South American side's 2-0 win over Serbia, in the 79th minute, a distraught Neymar exited the pitch.

Then subsequent pictures showed him with his head in his hands – something which is an indication, some feel, that he knows he will be out for the rest of the competition.

One asked: "Neymar kicked out of another big tournament?" Another said: "Like clockwork smh. In his defence, he is fouled so much." A third wrote: " Hope is not serious I can’t see him go out in his last World Cup like that."

Neymar was fouled nine times against Serbia and has struggled with ankle problems before. The attacker limped off after being on the end of a bad tackle from defender Nikola Milenkovic.

Indeed, the World Cup favourites made a winning start in Qatar with a win over Serbia.

The Selecao went into the break with it still goalless after what was a dour opening half.

Their shining light came by the way of former Everton attacker Richarlison, who netted a second-half brace.

His second of the night in Doha was a quite sensational volley, flicking the ball up and under his control before lashing it home acrobatically.

Brazil grew in confidence and they almost humiliated their opposition in the closing stages.

Manchester United midfielder Casemiro unleashed a quite wonderful strike against the bar before Real Madrid attacker Rodrygo twice went close as well during the second period.
