Ian Wright had a pointed pop at Des Lynam after telling 'Lozza' Laura Woods that she can call him 'Wrighty'.
It comes after an opinion piece published by Lynam where he claimed the pally nature between the two pundits made him 'wince' – despite stating he was fine with Gary Lineker calling the Arsenal legend 'Wrighty'. It led to huge backlash against the former Match of the Day host, who was branded a 'dinosaur' by some.
Even Wright and Woods responded on social media, with the Arsenal legend replying: “How’s Des vexed that Laura called me ‘Wrighty’!!! Looking for something negative to write," alongside a GIF featuring the text “I know a hater’s voice when I hear it.”

Woods hit back: "Jeez. Of all the things covered this is what made Des wince?”
And the duo had a pop in the ITV studio ahead of France vs Denmark when Woods got the attention of Wright by calling him Ian. The ex-England international joked back: "Lozza, we've been mates long enough, you don't have to call me 'Ian', you can call me 'Wrighty'."
Fans were quick to pick up on the reference, indirectly calling out Lynam. One wrote: "What a great response from “Ian” ahead of the France vs Denmark kick off."
Another said: "“Lozza [@laura_woodsy]…you don’t have to call me ‘Ian’, you can call me ‘Wrighty’” love @IanWright0!! Him & @MicahRichards really bring a real joy to punditry."
A third said: "Ark at Ian Wright giving it large. " You've known me long enough, call me Wrighty." While a fourth observed: "Was calling Ally Mccoist 'Alistair Mccoist' a sneaky dig at Des Lynam the miserable old dinosaur? Well played Laura .. well played."
Lynam had written in his column on The Telegraph: "This was the first live match for ITV and was presented by the ever–smiling Laura Woods. She has done quite a lot of presentation work on both radio and television and comes over as both confident and capable.
"She called Ian Wright ‘Wrighty’ which sounds comfortable coming from the likes of Lineker but it made me slightly wince. I may be wrong and perhaps they are close friends but the over-familiarity made me a touch uncomfortable."
