BBC presenter Mark Chapman was aghast when a U2 pun was used as a caption following a late change in goal for Morocco at the World Cup on Sunday.

Morocco were dealt a late fitness blow when first choice shot-stopper Yassine Bonou had to suddenly depart the pitch just before kick-off. He was named in the starting XI, walked out on to the pitch, sang the national anthem, and even shook hands with the Belgium players.

However, the Sevilla shot-stopper, who is often referred to as ‘Bono’, was hastily swapped with substitute goalkeeper Munir Mohand Mohamedi El Kajoui, after he started suffering from double vision. But with concern beginning to grow, Chapman was suddenly blind-sided by a very unusual caption for the moment.

At the time, Chapman was explaining what had happened to the 31-year-old goalkeeper. As he began to fill the gaps, a caption at the bottom of the screen completely caught him off guard.

To the BBC host’s amazement, the caption said, "with or without, Bono". It was an obvious reference to U2 hit ‘With or Without You’ that is associated with Bono.

It is fair to say Chapman was rather caught off guard by the unexpected, but amusing, caption. “Let’s just clear up what went on pre-match with the change of the Moroccan goalkeeper,” Chapman began in his usual smooth fashion.

“Bono was there as the team sang the national anthem, and then, I can’t believe we have done that graphic as a caption, but anyhow.” Fortunately for Chapman and the BBC he is a true professional who very quickly restored his cool and delivered his lines flawlessly.

“He (Bono – no, not that one) then complained to the coach about something wrong with his eyes,” Chapman continued. "Look at how calm the coach is and goes over to El Kajoui with a smile. He joins for the photo and then played the first 45 minutes."

The cheeky BBC producers may have more time to make up U2 puns as Morocco overcame the Belgians to put themselves in pole position for the last-16. Victory over winless Canada will guarantee their progression, but a draw will also be enough if Belgium and Croatia finishes as a stalemate.
